I started 3 autos indoors on 8 CFL's. in 5 gallon pots. I kinda figured earlier they werent growing correctly, I couldn't figure why. I felt it was a combination of heat and maybe the soil. I was advised not to transplant autos due to that shock would stop growth in its tracks. So I decided to finish the plants outside buy digging holes and putting the pots in the ground. Well they actually began to grow better (if you can believe it). But this is what we got, they looked like 5 day old seedlings after three weeks, before I moved them outdoors. I'm using organic nutrients, which because of their age I had no mercy on them and fed them a small amount of vegging fertilizer at half strength, and they are doing better, Though one of the plants is beginning to flower, which is about 6 inches tall, and was always slightly larger then the other two, which are in the picture. I have two questions for these plants. I believe the soil was the issue because, I have two other plants growing indoors with new soil and they are growing great.

1. on my 6 inch plant that is beginning to flower, should I feed another 1/2 dose of vegging fertilizer this week to get a little more size and switch to flowering the next or should I start flowering nutes this week?

2. On my 2 inch plants (in the picture) should I take the advice and not transplant the auto or should I transplant in new soil? Or should I just let them be? These plants are showing no signs of sex (feminized seeds). PA050167.jpgPA050168.jpgPA050169.jpg

Don't have anything to lose, transplant. Those won't be taking off, they're going to finish up single nug plants, not cola.. nug.. lol. Maybe 2-3 nugs at the very most, I've had a couple grow like that from getting stunted due to conditions whether it be nutes too early, heat or media drying out. You can still get a bit of a spurt in there, nothing to lose trying for it - transplant into fresh soil.

That soil they are in looks kinda ordinary, very dry and little drainage....at least the plants are green.

At the very least I would do what whatsgoodie suggested, transplant now into some basic potting mix.

I might just want to smoke my nug, rather then lose it. lol:toke: :crying:

I'm thinking maybe I should transplant them to a smaller pot, Like maybe a 1 gallon. You think that makes sense? seeing they are in 5gallons pots. and they'll probably be small anyway. What do you think?

Did you realize you have posted 3 pics of the same plant?

If it was me I would transplant the 3 small ones into one small pot with some decent potting mix, but dont expect miracles as they are unlikely to grow well.
I have been in the same situation as you, I stunted 6 plants with stupidly high nutes, after 4 weeks I transplanted them outdoors. They have been in the ground for a week, I checked them yesterday and they have not grown at all.....

So you could be wasting your time with them, and you should leave them outside, stuff paying for power to grow a couple of little nugs under lights :P

I transplanted all three plants today, from 5 gal pots to 1 gal pots. The bigger one that started flowering, began to wilt a little. I'll wait till tomorrow to see how it turns out; I had nothing to lose I had to do what I had to do. The two smaller ones roots was so small it just wasn't growing in the 5 gallons of soil for some reason, I'll post pictures tommorrow.

its not growing because its not getting the nutrients and water that it needs....... with that big a pot and that soil im not really surprised. you need that soil to go from wet to bone dry in 4 days with a 5 gallon pot. that stuff looks compact and void of air space. if the roots cant shoot through the material then its like having it in a party cup still.... looks like you need to change your soil and feeding next time.

That makes sense. Do you have any ideas how the feeding could be improved?

Here are the updated pictures after the transplant yesterday. They seem to have recovered. I did use 1/2 recommended dose of organic fertilizer, with a few drops of superthrive per quart.

There is a picture of the bigger one I told you about, but it's still is a runt, it is a Short Stuff Onyx. It's been showing flowering for a week, I haven't given it any flowering nutes yet. Since I decided to transplant this one too, I decided to wait till next week to give it flowering nutes. The other is a Short Stuff Blue Himalaya. If I get more growth, I'll update with some more pictures. This ought to be interesting. Hey, I want my babies to live, if I get a blunt between the two smallest ones so be it. They still supposedly have about 6 more weeks left, they might grow somemore. I won't pull it till its finished.
