Lighting Wild Bill's first med grow with CBD, THC/CBD and CBG girls under HLG DIABLO 650R and new HLG 200 Rspec

I recommend starting out with a Jr and smaller sized girls.
Jrs are easier to get the girl 'on the rez" and get the 'magic' of the Earthbox started. It's easier because of the two wicking areas are to each side of the centerline of the box. This will get that relationship with the plant taking a large percentage of the water it needs from that wicking area with relative little nutrients in the water. This allows the girl to take up the nutrients with feeder roots.
In other words, VPD will have less of an impact on FORCING the plant to take up nutes WITH the water it needs to do its work. In a regular pot, you can raise the nute take up by raising the VPD(Vapor Pressure Deficit) or in common terms, transpiration.
The biggest thing in running EBs is to keep nutes out of the rez water as possible, once that relationship with the roots and wicking areas is established.

I've got an idea for the makers of EarthBoxes. It will be the Canna Edition of the regular size EarthBox. If they don't make it, I will. It's very simple change to the media separator with adding a wicking area in the center like in the Junior. Honestly, I doubt if they will make it with their average buyer not growing cannabis and the perceived negative connotation.
Hi, yeah thanks so much for that reply, that is a very detailed response and mirrors a lot of the information I was able to mine of the Internet.
I can see a lot of potential in them boxes reminds me of a deep water culture growing I did a couple years back in a bucket. But like you mention this is a much more involved in working with a live soil Mix.
After a good read, I’m not entirely sold possibly not right for my circumstances at present, but I definitely love the idea and the possibilities If my circumstances would allow.
I would also relish the possibility of building such a project as it looks like a very customisable box.
Loving your grow Man. ☮️🌿

To be honest with you, my set-up and methods are a bit complicated, but I'm just exploring and refining my method. You can grow quite good canna in an Earthbox with a few inputs, less than what you can count on your single hand.

My newest 'tool' to grow my canna in EarthBoxes.:eyebrows: :dancer::funny:

Well, it's NOT fer a solo cup grow! :funny:

This is the main reason I picked this up from Dollar General.

Oh MY! Look whut I found! :headbang:

I can order 1 Jr and two regular screens and get to cutting and slapping some epoxy around.
I think one of the wicking areas from the Jr will work well in a Regular EB.

I think this will get the girl set up on the rez a good 10 days earlier.

Be careful with epoxy, they contain amines, an ammonium salt derivative that is actually toxic. It comes out during the cure process onto the exterior of the epoxy, make sure to scrub the epoxy completely with iso after it has functionally cured(24-48 hours)to remove the amine "blush" from the surface of the epoxy before using the modified earthbox.

Great info! :headbang:
I was going to post that when I posted the modified part. I wish I knew someone with a printer.
I'm pretty sure a mod like this will let the plant get that relationship with the rez, just about as quick as a Jr and end up being an overall bigger plant at the time of chop.
It's mainly for autos and their ticking time clock.Photos would benefit also with just being able to flip sooner. It could easily knock off a week to 10 days off a photo run when shooting for the same size pant.

That's assuming planting in the center. My first run in Earthboxes, I planted on one end. The girl was close to a wicking spot. They got on the rez fairly quickly and I just laid the girls over. Despite using EB's silly dolomite recommendation, AVT did quite well, fighting that dolomite all the way. That planting option really only lends itself to one method of training. I like options!
