If its only smelling where your exhaust is it has to be your filter i only use phresh filters now there a bit dearer but i usually get 2 years of growing out of one

I second this. Phresh filters are quality filters. I've used them for a long time. Perhaps you received a dodgy filter. You should seek a replacement. Are you still in the return window?

All I use as well! Never had smell other than when opened. @PerachYarok I would ask what brand the filter is? Definitely sounds like your filter is the source. I operate on a tight budget, but I wont go cheap on a filter! If you're not in a legal state most important peice of equipment you can have. I leave off until smell starts so I can stretch the life as much as possible, lasts me over 2yrs. I also have a 2nd filter in room where tent is so when I open to work or at harvest smell doesn't get out. Stay lifted.

@PerachYarok what size is your fan? You may be running to big of a fan. If it pulls the air to fast the carbon cant clean the air correctly. Filter can be a good 1, but if fan is to strong wont matter. A speed controller maybe cheaper than a new fan if this is the issue. You can go on phresh filter site and use their cfm calculator. Then you know what cfm rating your tent size needs for filter to function properly.
