Yea, checking is important. Not necessarily adjusting if you live with great water. But it's well documented that cannabis can't live in pH 9 conditions, for example. I know I've documented it. lamers not checking pH... hahaha

Yep. It's been proven you can't grow a plant without a PH meter. Geeeeeeesh!!!!!!!!!! If you think you got a ph problem then check it. I am more confident in my medium and nutes then that.

After seeing enough of your girls going yellow in veg, sooner or later you have to start asking why everyone else can use seaweed perfectly fine, but when you use it it kills your girls ability to uptake Sulfur.

Cue a digital ph pen, some adjusters, discovering that my shitty tapwater having such a high ph and ec causes endless hassles, and that particular problem goes away forever.

Tell me about it. I've seen so many newbies get confused listening to the argument because you're left wondring whether you should do it or not! There seems to be three camps.. one camp saying it HAS to be done all the time, one camp saying that it NEVER has to be done, and the other camp saying "hey guys.. don't argue about PH management it's a fact of life that some have to and some don't".


Fact is, I think I'd rather not eat for a week than go without a digital PH pen nowadays. But that's just me.

whats a decent ph tester for the $... cheaper is obviously better but i understand you get what you pay for esepceicaly in todays day and age.

Because I'm clumsy and keep breaking stuff, I buy this one for £15 delivered (just as well I don;t get the expensive ones because I'd be onto my third and several hundred quid gone already). Not the best things in the world but they're accurate and don't need calibrating every two seconds.

If you're in the states you can probably get them cheaper or better than that, but somewhere between the £15-30 (or $47,325,432 ) is where to aim for.

I got a ph pen and use it. Not near as much these days. Mixing nutes is nothing more then a bakers recipe. I bought in to the
Ph thing for a while. Extra time with little or no return. I grew for a long time not knowing effects of ph and had great results. Start reading all this forum stuff and just made things worse. So I reverted to my old ways for a while and my plants took off

I don't go intO a grow expecting problems. I just prepare for em. I think a ph meter is a quality investment, but in no way needed to grow a plant. That I know to be a fact.

i feel you.... if your in soil ph isnt as big a deal as hydro at all. i use blue lab ph pens and its the best bang for your buck.
