Thanks bro,i always have bud drying for extracts( cause i usually run out of jar space) i have a grip still left and may document another Dry Ice extraction as well...next on the list is an attempt at some RSO for some capsules...
where can you get dry ice at? im curious for myself

Well,in colorado we can get it at some grocery stores and some wal marts, sometimes you have to ask cause they keep it in the back.if no luck there, look for party or event planners( in the yellow pages/online) or magicians, some use it for special effects..i have heard of making your own but i think thats cost prohibitive..hope this helps

I found mine at big grocery store chain myself. Almost $14 for one package of it, but that was all I needed (bought two packages. DIdn't realize it doesn't last lol. Found an empty sack in my deep freeze a few days later. Was pissed but had to laugh at myself.!)

i can only get it by mail, was told i would pay for 25kg but if only 5kg was in the box when i got it tough shit.
so i havnt dabbled with it.
same with everclear,it or an equivalent dosnt exist here.
:pighug:

I know feel your pain SOH,first time i bought way too much as well, the dry ice company packages it in approx 2 lb blocks for about 2$ per block but i came home with 10 blocks,a little goes a long way!! Now i just buy a couple blocks and still end up throwing it when im done,i tried saving it in the freezer too,and had the powder/frost all over everything in the freezer,...for anybody new at trying this, keep a couple things in mind.First is,di has a temp of -198.3 and it could frost burn your skin if handed carelessly,,second, from what i read,it could also kill the freezer motor of a regular/household freezer cause the super cold temps it creates if stored in there,,Last tip is use 73,120,then 160 or 220 screens separately, and dont shake for too long cause di turns everything but stems to dust and causes plant matter to get the screen( gotta mention,i only do bud run)

this is an old pic but shows 73 mic to the left,120 middle and 160 right...good luck

Yeah I think maybe that was you that told me not to store it in the freezer. I'll have to check to see what filters I used again, only used 4 total out of the 8. I'll also second the "dust" that it creates, I had a 4 gallon bucket almost completely full of trim and by the end of it, it was a quarter full bucket of powder!

Also noticed with some hard shakes it seems like it was loosening some of the screen fibers. Could just be lower quality bags/screen too, not sure. That dry ice makes things COOOOOOOLD though, like let it sit in the bag for too long and the bag becomes stiff like something you got wet that you set outside in the middle of winter "stiff."

well I tried my hand with ec and some trim today. last time I made it with iso. didn't like it,through it out.My fault.
I froze everything 24 hrs ,filled mason jars 1/2 full of trim. covered trim in ec,waited 30 seconds then shook for 30 seconds more.
dumped thru strainer, reused ec on the next jar, topped as nessasary, did this with 4 jars. went through the whole fifth of ec.
anyway then poured thru 2 coffee filters. left to evaporate now.
No idea how this is going to be but we shall see.
Anything I can do tomorrow to make it so it isn't a big black gop of tar and some nice amber wax, shatter, whatever you call it ?
I did dry sieve this before hand twice and got 7 grams of nice yellow kief, whick I heat pressed into hash.
So anything I get here will be xtra and I'm sure i'll get some. just not wanting black goo.
I know before I left the iso in with the trim to long,at least that's what I read.
Any tips ?

still waiting for the ec to evaporate, probably ruined it huh.

It will probably be okay after the ethanol evaporates. I use a condenser to recover the alcohol but when I was purging to waste by evaporating it with a fan on it, it took a couple hours. Depends on how deep your puddle is. In a large Pyrex dish (9x13) it is shallow and has a lot of surface area. Good luck friend, I'll be watching to hear how it came out.
