New Grower When do you know it will be a big plant?

Tried to search on here to see if anyone is as curious or just as daft as me so I know this might seem like a really silly question and its probably one that cant be answered properly....but ive seen people put 'I can tell this plants going to be big one' etc on their diaries at different stages...but how do you actually know or when can you tell a plant will be a 'big one' as its an auto strain...

Obviously a photoperiod can get as big as you want it but with an auto its just doing its own thing and all you can just help it on its way by making its conditions ideal etc...

Obviously I know anything could limit its yield/size throughout the grow for example nute lockout, over feeding, mold, high/low temps etc...but how do people really tell its going to be big? and what do you look for? I just look at the plants at 2/3 weeks and think you look tiny and have no idea what they could or will explode into....

I say that when I've grown the strain before or have seen journals on it and you kinda know what to expect but sometimes you just get a feeling it's gonna be big!

yea for sure...ive looked and they seem very similar to my previous grows then theres has just shot up and ended up twice if not 3 times the size...i know i stunted mine as they were my first 2 grows...just wasnt sure if there was some key bits you could look for or if it just comes from experience to say its got say 6 nodes and all these leaves at 2/3 weeks where as one might only have 4 nodes or something...

Same as what scaly says , I won't purchase a strain unless I've seen atleast a couple of journals on it so I can see what to expect, I only have 3.5ft height In my groom and I've had 14 different strains in there not one hit the light due to research! Iv currently got mephisto ripleys Og in there , I can see from journals that these grow into big girls and could easily outgrow my room , so I know to LST and top them to slow things down abit and keep them short, if I hadn't gone off other people's journeys these would of gone through the roof!

thanks for the reply! yea ive checked a few grows all with varying results at the point mines at now...will wait and see, and i suppose thats part of the excitement not knowing what its going to turn into!

If I had known what my first complete DWC grow was going to be I may have thought differently. Had no idea she was going to completely fill my 4x4 tent...lol. Had not seen many grows of her so was flying blind but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

If your looking to hav a big plant forsure you should b growing a photo in my opinion.thats the only way to truly control if its big or not.flip it when its half the size you want

yea ive been trying to base how many plants i put in my tent by other peoples grows and how big they get...but ive seen such varied results its quite exciting to see how my own will turn out...one plant filling a 4x4 is nuts though!

im not necessarily after a big plant i was just wondering how people can tell they will have a 'big' plant at such an early stage of the grow...to be they all look the same at 14 or so days but ive seen people say 'this ones gonna be big i can just tell' and i wonder how the hell do they know

O sorry..i just misunderstood then site..it shud still double in size (with autos) at around 14days..usually thats when you start having preflowers which is essentialy when your "stretch" starts..like said above growing the strain prior is usualy how they kno.

I cant wait till some more photo guys get on here like me...i was on afn's other site in lost alot of pics but on a 3wk veg with a photo,i turn 6 into 6×4 stadium trellis n i had 82 tops...i pulled twice of that n got hair under gram/per watt.(1000w)this is y i choose photos...n i hav 4 nets going perpetual..
