Hey guys it's about day 12 I think after planting my autos in 5gal pots. They are still pretty damn small and I think that's due to the roots just establishing still. I have only watered them twice and it's been a week since my last water. The top two inches of the soil are bone dry I should add but I don't want to over water. So I'm wondering why my leaves seem to be dropping down and curling up. I also noticed that this plant kind of looks like a mutant but I really hope not. Pics below:

I am not a pro, but I would say to give her a few ounces of regular water ph to 6.7, it actually does not hurt to water a few ounces every morning at that age. I don't do any nutes until week 3 because they are sensitive,I hope she gets well bro. Also only water around the base of the stem at that size start right around stem and go in a circle until the wet spot is about the size of a baseball.

It looks like she is experiencing a tiny bit of heat stress too(edges curled up). I've seen this in a lot of early veg pictures, including my own and it doesn't seem to cause much issues. You may want to move your light up a few inches.

Think your right my 400w mh bulb was about 10-12 inches from my plants. It's a fast buds auto GSC plant. I'm afraid to water my plant because of root rot and such. It's super dry 2 inches down but then it gets moist again so idk what to do. Appreciate the responses guys.

Is your 400W in a cool tube or just an open wing reflector? I'd go around 18 inches myself. A simple test is to put your hand over the top of the plant (so the back of your hand is facing the light.) If it's too hot to hold your hand there, it's too hot for the plant. You'll know if it's too high if you start to see evident stretching.

As to the watering, try doing more frequent but less water in your watering schedule starting out. A good way to know when to water is by weight of the pot itself. Get a feel for what that pot feels like dry, water, then feel the weight again. As you get a feel for the weights, that can really help to know when to water. What kind of soil are you using?
