we always suggest growth: 18/6; bloom: 12/12. so which is right? I am confused

With photo seeds those light schedules would work fine. With autoflowering seeds, they don't need the 12/12 for flowering. So with autos you could use 18/6, 20/4, or 24/0 light schedules from seed to harvest.

For me this tends to be a bit seasonal due to my grow space being in an unheated/cooled garage. In a perfect world I keep them on 20/4, but it varies primarily to manage temperature. In the hottest part of the Tejas summer I'll go all the way down to 12/12 (which is what I'm on right now) whereas in January I may go 24/0 for the extra heat. The beauty of autoflowers is that they are like honey badgers, the dont give a fuck - they just grow and go

I ran mine at 20/4 for about 7 months but when I started switching to Mephistos, i changed to 24/0. The only plant that had an issue was a Creme of The Crop Psychofruit it was a bit sensitive.
Otherwise i have not noticed any difference in growth or issues
I have been considering slowly adjusting back to 22/2 basically to just give lights a break. My temps stay btw 77-82, once in A while up to 84.
Backing off the lighting schedule i will do over a couple week period. Currently i have 5 plants all in different various stages of flowering. So will wait till I clear a 3 out over the next week for harvest.
Just don't make any abrupt changes. With Autos changes need to be slow and methodical. Unless u like hermies.

I'm growing Dutch Passion and fastbuds BlackBerry and I had them on 24/7 they grew great but I switched them to 19/5 and 2 of them started to grow more when I thought they stopped stretching and i have another one I started a month later with the first 2 weeks 24/7 and now on 19/5, the only thing is I cant really compare because it's a different strain its Exotic Seeds Black Haze which is doing really good plus it's in love soil when the BlackBerry are in 100% coco

I have stayed at 24/7. The Mephistos seem to thrive on it or ar least show no sign that don't they don't like the perpetual sunshine. So far They finish rigbt on time with their strain schedule.

This grow I'm running 18/6 because here in the San Diego area we have some of the highest electricity rates in the country and the weather is hot so I rest them from 1pm to 7 pm.

35 days old.

I believe 18 hours. Plants like to sleep just like you and I. 20 hours will work too but I run 1000 watt MH and HPS so it's not cheap on electricity which is another reason I chose 18 to save on 2 hours of my light running. Soon as roots hit the water and 2 to 3 sets of leafs I flip to my 1000 watt ballast. I start seedlings under high output t5 veg light for the first few weeks of her life. Also saves some cash on electricity running t5s in the beginning. My lights go off at midnight until 6am on the timer.
