I actually do 17/7 for the first month to develop root growth then ramp up to 19/5 30 mins a day starting on day 28 to help the flower stage and give more light for bulk.. does it work? dunno -- just found a really compelling article about 17/7 with autos for the first month to get a really strong root base for the push to flower with FFOF soil.

U would would think u would get more root growth on a 24/7 plant, especially if ur keeping the humidity and temps in harmony with where plant is,I usually like to keep a 70% humidity with 22-25c temp first 3 week, followed by 40-45% humidity 25-27c temp for the flowering dropping temps rite down near end to bring out the purple

Well, I'd go for 18/6: 18 hours of light a day and 6 hours of darkness a day is the commonest schedule adopted by most indoor growers. Although growers give their autos varying lighting schedule ranges from 20, 22 or even 24 hours of light per day. The 18/6 light period is ideal if you are residing at a place where hot climates are more usual. This light schedule will also allow you to save more energy since you can only turn on the grow lights during the night time.

Can I ask from somebody with more knowledge than me where DLI might fit in the discussion about day length. I understand the opinion that some have that a dark time may be necessary for root development ( but many here run 24/0, so that issue has not been nailed yet ), but the DLI info I have read about seems relevant.....the plant needs a genetically programmed number of photons/day/sq inch (DLI) to reach its optimum growth state. DLI is a function of photon/sec/sq inch (PPFD) X time per day....Therefore, High light intensity (PPFD) and low light time per day , may produce the same result as low light intensity (PPFD) X high light time ??
Does this make any sense ?

I have tried 24/0 and 20/4. The best growth and health i have seen when going for 24/0 the first 3 weeks then changing to 20/4 to give the plant 4 hours of rest. Or else there is a chance that the leafs gets used up/burnt and she cant recieve light as good later on at the very important budding stage.

On my 600w hps I was on 18/6 but with my 240w Telos 008 been advised by the GN Team to go 20/4. So I guess it depends really on how powerful your lights are [emoji1280]
