Not sure of problem but if it’s green stuff growing on soil surface 99/100 it’s probably trichoderma which is a type of fungus! It’s in stuff like recharge etc and on soil surface alive usually means healthy soil!
My earthboxes currently under their covers!

If you zoom in you’ll see white and green microbe life on the soil!
If it’s unhealthy soil was seeing people complain of algae on their soil so may wanna google search “green stuff on my soil surface” and compare the pics to yours! As for plant spots no clue!
Have u checked soil ph??

You need to do a slurry test to get soil ph now with what u have! Just dig up couple tablespoons from edge of pot and add about the same in water and stir it up in a cup! Then dip your pen in and u can get accurate soil ph! No extra goodies needed! ;)
