Hi all! I have a 6" Air Cool Hood with a 250watt hps bulb installed. My budget only allowed for a 250watt hps at the moment so the potential of my 3' x 3' x 5' tent is probably not met. Anyway, the hood can operate a 1000watt, but in the near future I will probably install a 600watt when the funds become available :-)

On to my question. What size CFM inline fan should I install to cool this hood running a 250watt? Maybe I should purchase something to cool a 600watt bulb instead for the future.

Personally, I would go with something bigger than what you need. You can put a rheostat on it so you can control speed and noise, and since you plan on going with a bigger light you will be prepared. I am using the 424cfm 6" inline fan from HTG. It also comes ready to attach one of their carbon filters on it.

Link to fan.

That is some very sound advice..

I have a 400+ cfm fan in a 4 x 4 grow cab. It's enough, but a couple hundred more wouldn't hurt my feelings either.
