Im needing to order a new 1000 watt bulb. My other one is about 6 months old and I'm just gonna store it incase of emergency. The thing is, there a lot of different bulbs out there. They have super hps which has 17% more blue. The also have a super mh that is 600hps 400mh but the lumens are lower. All I've used are normal mh and hps bulbs. Are these new bulbs better. Any comments appreciated.

Rdeaton it will really depend on the ballast you are using... If you are using an electronic digital ballast you are gonna want to run a digital bulb I would suggest running a hortilux super bloom hps It has increased blue in the spectrum and the quality of the worksmanship is the best these bulbs pump a lot of high quality lumens and have a much longer life then other bulbs on the market... also keep in mind when they say 20% more blue in the spectrum...that is barely any increase ... I mean its like 20% of basically nothing so that can be a little misleading . If you are gonna want blue in your spectrum for veg your best bet is just using a MH for veg and then switching over... I have done both and really didn't see much benefit when running autos from using a mh ...imo

Good info a420! Im just waiting for winter to break out my 600w.....until then i have my Blackstars!
I use 600watt SunMaster hps bulbs for my autos. They have more of a blue spectrum then other bulbs and are perfect if you are going to grow veg and bloom under one bulb.
