I have searched online but found no answer so I ask:

Why did my AK47 autos grow so tall? They are stated to get between 50 and 75 cm.

I have one that are 75 cm and the last 8 are between 100 cm and 120 cm. Seems that most of them have stopped growing now, but a few still reaches.

If I had done everything right, I would not think more about it, but those girls have not had an easy life.

1: Bought the cheapest soil I could find and did not mix it in with anything and put it in 10l buckets that I drilled wholes in.
2: No nutes before day 32 or 33.
3: No water the last 11-12 days before first nutes was given
4: PH in the soil has been too low.

The plants have had issues two times. Both times they recovered.

I have heard that if you put light to far from the plant she will reach but also be weak. I use T8`s. They are put to around 4 cm from the plant and is moved up again when it touches and not before. (fan makes the plant move and the tubes do not get so hot so this seems safe.

I did use only blue spectrum for the grow, then I switched to red and blue and now I have only red.

I have 20.000 lumens pr 9 plants.

Can it really be my old style T8`s being responsible for this or can this have any other reasonable explanation?

The reason I am asking is that I will start a new grow just after this one is done. I want to repeat this if I can but I need to know what could be the factor?

My next grow will be cream caramel and think different. I so much want this to happen again.

The question is: Can it be repeated or is this a grow blessed with freaky luck?

the seeds was from http://www.marijuana-seeds.nl/
52 US dollar for ten seeds + I got 5 regular seeds.

Any input is appreciated.

is it useful height though? how many nodes etc. got pics? if theyre just huge but stretched i wouldnt really want to repeat it, it will just be harder to light. if its all buds then congrats but i would say luck more than something repeatable at a guess.
you will get the same yield from a plant 100 cm with the same amount of nodes as a 50 cm plant prettymuch, the larger it is the harder to adequately light so tall doesnt necessarily equal better. if you get a huge yield from it at harvest then that would be worth chasing.

had a quick look at your sig, id say they just didnt have enough light and stretched. but only saw a few random pics.
looking good all the same:thumbs:

They have more than plenty light and it is as said maximum 4 cm from the plant. They should only stretch if the light is far from the plant is what I have learned? I only keep one light on when taking photos - it is so bright for my eyes in there - or at least it was when I used 6500K.

I can come with some photos tomorrow - the buds have grown incredible the last days and the top is covered on a few of them.

As for now the buds on the lower half are there, but they are smaller. This, I think is due to light and to a couple of issues making the lower half dry out on me.

I am guessing that if I did not abuse the girls so much this grow and if I had side-lighting I think MAYBE they would grow bigger.

As my first grow I do not expect much of a yield but seems maybe I am a bit lucky.

For the harvest point I would agree but this grow have been so poorly done so the harvest could end up anywhere on the scale from real low to real good. I have no idea yet.

I guess I probably just have to hope it happens in my next grow also so I can see under better conditions.

I am fairly sure it is because of my old fashion T8`s - and if it is, it will show in the next grow also - if not, probably a fluke?

thanks for input. The more I learn the better my skills will be. I want to become a decent soil grower.

if you have the room for huge plants its not as big a deal but just to say height is not the most important factor unless youre outside maybe.

remember that even though the tops are 4cm away from the light the whole plant is not. the higher it grows the further everything except the tops are from the light. you should aim for 3-5000lumens per square foot, so if you have a 3x3 area that would need around 36000 lumens to be well lit. also penetration comes into it hid lamps work well because they travel further while still being effective while t5 and flouros need to be close to be used well. so a higher plant will need more lumens even in the same area to be well lit.
side lighting is a good idea a few low watt cfls or t5hos would help alot and add yield even for the grow you are on now, might be an idea.

Wit out seeing pics,It maybe the lights.t/8 bulbs really arn't really strong enough for good growthand could cause stretching.t/5 are stronger and I would go with them if you have the money.

I use T8 for the low heat and can not change up.

I will be looking for led later when I have the money. For now I will have to make the best of my T8`s.

I have 20 000 lumen per square meter.

I have now looked closely at my girls and I see what you all are talking about. It is the upper half that has the most and the biggest buds by far.

I was putting a new photo taken five minutes ago in my grow log.

Thank you for helping me understand - I think I got the picture now.:wiz:

I dont mind when mine get taller.I like to tie them down and let all the lower lateral branches grow up to join the top cola.

Just to update on this one.

The taller they have grown the bigger they will yield. My 1.22 meter one will definitely yield minimum 60g - possibly more. My shortest one, 75 cm will yield maybe 30 g. My bet for the harvest on my nine plants would be 400 g. I will soon know though :)

Also: T8`s are awesome lights for growing weed - I have now learned the tricks and I bet my T8`s will outperform most other setups except for LED`s - and no, I am not joking :)

Growing in soil and under T8 is a form of art. I think this is my kind of growing :)

I hear what people are stating about Lumen and other things. I just do not agree and I will put up the results to prove my side :)

Hey Weedlife ...from what breeder did your AKs come from? I have one out of 5 or 6 that got over 4 feet(120cm+) that was from Lowlife. Mine just wouldnt stop growing..changed pots a couple times and made a clone off of her..but she was also alot longer to finish up..100+ days..but did auto in 2 weeks or maybe a bit less..under LED..I think 20/4..

That's not always true mate. In fact you can say that about nodes, not just the height.
My MR had just 50 cm height but the final yield was better than a few plants i've seen with the double of size.
