Anyone have a link or know what the charges are and how many plants for each tier of that charge.. I think it uses to be 6 or less plants is a minimal charge, up to 49 is another and 50+ is another story...

Im sure the new laws changed some of what was already illegal but I cant find anything explaining what charges for plant numbers.

Just for educational purposes, I dont plan on growing more than 4 plants..

I thought Canada made it legal country wide?

It is legal to grow 4 plants if the genetics came from the government.

I want to know what reprocusions there are for illegal genetics and what the plant numbers are for whatever charges.. and if anyone knows if a landlord can enforce a notice that you arent allowed to grow in their rented unit

I do know that it’s up to the landlord whether they allow tenants to grow or not in their rental units. 100% landlords call. Then again, nothing’s illegal if ya don’t get caught [emoji6]

I found this kinda interesting.

9(1) Unless authorized under this Act, it is prohibited for an individual: (C)
(i) to distribute one or more cannabis plants that are budding or flowering, or
(ii) to distribute more than four cannabis plants that are not budding or flowering;

So if I understand this correctly, A friend/neighbor can keep 4 plants for you in veg, and legally pass them off to you when they are ready to flower.

I was interested in your comment about "illegal genetics" so I looked into it bit. It seems there is a claus in there about seeds. These are the home growing laws:

Cultivation, propagation and harvesting — 18 years of age or older
(4) Unless authorized under this Act, it is prohibited for an individual who is 18 years of age or older to cultivate, propagate or harvest, or to offer to cultivate, propagate or harvest,

(a) a cannabis plant that is from a seed or plant material that they know is illicit cannabis; or

(b) more than four cannabis plants at any one time in their dwelling-house.

Marginal note:Cultivation, propagation and harvesting — dwelling-house limit
(5) Unless authorized under this Act, if two or more individuals who are 18 years of age or older are ordinarily resident in the same dwelling-house, it is prohibited for any of those individuals to cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plants if doing so results in there being more than four such plants being cultivated, propagated or harvested at any one time in the dwelling-house.

Marginal note:Cultivation, propagation and harvesting — 18 years of age or older — without authorization
(6) Unless authorized under this Act, it is prohibited for an individual who is 18 years of age or older

(a) to cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling-house or to offer to do so; or

(b) to cultivate, propagate or harvest any living thing, other than a cannabis plant, from which cannabis may be extracted or otherwise obtained, or to offer to do so.

Now, I don't know how they could possibly prove that your genetics are from "illicit cannabis", but it certainly makes me wonder about my seed collection...maybe I should start breeding! Also, it's never, to my knowledge, been illegal in Canada to buy, sell or possess cannabis seeds, so if it was never previously illegal, then the seeds didn't come from an illicit source...at least in my opinion.

Hard to find info on it now but seeds were always illegal if they were viable lol

"In 1987, there was enacted an addition to the Canadian Narcotic Control Act concerning the prohibition of "Cannabis sativa, its preparations, & derivatives". This addition exempted "non-viable cannabis seed" from the Act."
