Its great being able to see the progress there making every day above and bellow ground. I prefer this to my previous grow setup. If these 2 go well, I'll get another one going next month.

Just curious about the PH issue. Did you wash and drain the hydroton rocks really really well before you used them? The clay can cause swings in your PH. Some people continued to soak and rinse them till they are PH neutral, I just soak agitate and rinse several times. Lots of red dust comes of those things.

Ahhhhh ok didnt know the clay could do that to the ph,i rinsed those suckers shook wash still residue. Prob the issue tbh used a collander filled cubes soak toss soak toss 10 times maybe more.

If you rinsed them 10 times I can’t imagine they would have much more residue on them. Just a thought. I never change my buckets water for the entire run so I don’t get any ph issues. Good luck with the grow.

I had forgotten about this as a potential issue.
I had similar on my first grow, so now, I rinse the pebbles thoroughly and then put them into a tub of water, leave it for an hour or so and adjust the pH to 6.0.
I leave them soaking there for 24/48 hours, give them a stir every now and then and adjust when/if necessary.

Nail on the head lads, i remember when i filled my dwc's higher than last time so i noticed more residue. i really did think 30minutes under the kitchen tap, shaking and moving it every few minutes would have done it always a school day. will see what the ph is sitting at when i get home.
p.s found out with all this ph downing one drop is exactly .1 ph finding it so easy to get it sitting exactly at 5.8.

Hart to see the exact colour from photos.
It looks fine to me, in fact I would even think a touch overfeeding as some of the leaves are very dark and show a slight N Tox with the tips curled slightly down
