My experience with 5 watt LEDs is that you can only get the minimum distance the 11in they talk about when you're in late flower. With a 5 watt chip you're safe at 3 foot height but you were definitely too low before. I run a different kind of LED mine is a mix of 3 and 5 watt chips and I usually start three even four feet above my seedlings and then the light gets closer and closer as I move on to where when I'm in solid flower I'll be two feet and sometimes I'll finish even shorter than that by the end of flower.
