Well I just made my first batch of canna butter using trim from the summer. I was reading about water curing to help remove the smell and "weed" taste as the one batch works great but taste like grass lol

Any simple/easy methods anyone can recommend? Just want to make a better product next time.

Thanks

I'm not positive of the exact method, but it is my understanding you submerge the plant matter in fresh water every day using something to weigh the buds down to keep fully submerged for about a week I think which essentially allows all the water soluble plant compounds to leech out into the water, leaving behind mostly cannabinoids. After the water, dry as you normally would and you're good to go. Obviously do more research, but I'm sure a Google search would turn up much better info than I just gave you.

You do lose the flavor at first but if you jar-cure for a while after you'll reveal the terpenes more. The idea that the terpenes and flavornoids are lost to leeching is a common misconception. These are organic substances that cannot dissolve in water very easily.. The chloroforms, now that's a different story, the chloroform is polar and water soluble. Water curing is a very effect way to leech these unwanted substances especially for med-grade

Water curing works very well for oils and butter. I cure for 7 days, changing the water daily. I then drain it and right into the crock pot. When it's finished I strain it through a piece of fine silk screen. The oil is a lighter green than oil made from uncured bud with very little taste. If you're got bubble bags, they are great for straining oil.

Thanks for the replies everyone! It's mostly the chloroform "grass" taste I was trying to get rid of. I will do the seven days next time and let you guys know how it turned out.

Btw I made rice crispy squares with my first batch of butter! Snap, crackle and POP they are good:)
