Hey guys.

Ordered a fabric pot autopot xl system, but they sent me plastic ones by accident.

I have some normal fabric pots lying around, can they be used in a plastic autopot xl system instead of the included plastic pots?

I can't get airdomes in my country as well, so can't go that route.

Thanks everyone.

I think your question would be more along the line of will they work as well...it is a bottom water/feed system it'll definitely get the pots wet but will it work as intended or drown your plants..might be a good experiment.

I too am interested to use the XL base and find some fabric pots locally to use other than the specific type they sell. I see no logic that would keep one type of fabric pot from working vs another except for maybe circumference issues.... Seems the only important part would be to use the root control discs as intended.

You could use air stones and some type of shroud like the business end of a strainer, I believe I saw someone mention that method and seems to sound like a good work around. I used round air stones instead of the tubing cross as designed.

IMHO, any fabric pot whose bottom more or less fills the tray dimension wise will work fine. If you use pots smaller than the tray dimension, you might want to fill the extra volume with something to reduce the volume of liquid flooding the tray during each flood cycle. The extra liquid in the partially open tray might keep smaller pots too wet for too long, but whether this problem is real or not would need to be tested, and I have not done that.

When one of my autopot orders was missing something, the distributor was super quick to send replacement. You might contact the supplier to see how soon they could supply the fabric pots.

Good luck with it. :pighug:
