Tried my best but I think my first grow is doomed :(

Thanks si... will do for the new grow.

Muddy, I took your advice and have a tentative plan for the new layout based on your advice, please let me know what you think as I have not done it yet:

It means I have to stand the carbon filter upright in the corner of the cupboard because its absolutely huge and only has one hole in it for ducting so what do you think? I would be moving the ballast out as well. It makes things a little more cramped though. Please let me know what you think.

That's the idea. The carbon filter can go anywhere. I'd suggest mounting it up high where the hot air is. That way it won't take up any of your floor space. Also, if you can cut your intake hole on the opposite side of where the carbon filter is so that the air is drawn across and up for better circulation.

Hi,

I could move the carbon filter onto the middle shelf, on it's side again, and run ducting below, but how would that help with the smell? if it is sucking doesn't it need to be a bit local to the plants, or will it just have the power to suck smell even at that distance? I have to be a stealthy lowcost :)

I ask because the shelves are actually full width and depth (comes to the door), so there's only small gaps for air between each shelf, so I am guessing that is bad for airflow? I might have a think about eliminating the middle shelf completely...

I may be wrong but you might want the carbon filter up high as muddy said that way you can clean the air, that your exsahausting through your cool tube, why not have the Ruck fan pulling air trough cool tube then trough carbon filter and out tent creating negative pressure,or passive intake...just a suggestion good luck bro.

As long as it's in the box somewhere it's fine. Mine is a good 3.5 - 4' above my plants and it work fine. Removing that middle shelf might not be a bad idea unless you need it for some other reason. You could also mount it horizontally along the back or side wall. Anywhere so it's not taking up valuable floor space.

yeh i agree try have your intake on the opposite side to your exhaust and as muddy said try get your filtter up higher good luck with your grow dude :peace:

Thanks a lot for the support guys, gonna have a fiddle with the grow room and check the temps this time round. This should serve a warning to all new growers: be humble and even if you read everything in sight like me, there will always be something a newbie will miss... in my case... it was the temps / airflow / bad grow room design.

Nice post bro....check my grow Carolina Russian rocket fuel...I ask tons of questions took tons of pictures.....stay open and posetive and u will be just fine, good luck bro:peace:

Thanks man! I think both plants are dead now but they are in for testing purposes for the new grow room design. It's similar to the above diagram except the carbon filter is now horizontal, at the back and higher than the cooltube (but within same area). The carbon filter is routed to the cooltube, which is routed to the rvk fan, which expels very high up. The ballast was placed outside the room, as far as possible, and it no doubt made the problem really bad. Current temps are 28C / 82.5 F... is that OK? I have set the timings so it turns off during the hottest part of the day, which is common sense. I think I will get as high as 30C / 86 F but only in worst case scenarios...

Got a link to your grow, bro? love to see...

I think 79 to 83 is perfect....sounds like you got your set up going good..86 is OK a tad bit high for me, it some rock that high with no problems...try not to go over 88 though:bong:
