Tried my best but I think my first grow is doomed :(

First plant is shrinking, shrivelling up now, probably dead from the roots, right guys? I think what I did was mess up big time with the nutes. Got lockout before burn? I will post pics of the rootball when it's dry enough to extract.

I was also using 1.6 gal pots (are they big enough - 8ltr) ?

:2cents:One last option you might have is to repot in all new mix and keep barely moist ,no nutes and ph water. If you do this make sure you get most of the old soil off the root ball than repot.

Hey guys,

PH is 6.5-7 ... but got a hygrometer now to see temps. There is also insufficient air intake according to a friend so that could be one problem?

But guess what? I checked the temps and it's 45C (115F) - I guess that is a wee bit too high and was the start of the problems (a heatwave in this country at the moment).... what do you think?

LOL, a wee bit? Try 30 degrees too high. Max should be 85 with 80 ideal. What kind of lights are you using?

Just a single 400w HPS with cooltube being extracted through an RVK which pumps it to the carbon filter. Interestingly, the cooltube is doing it's job, I can touch it for extended time without being burned. I think I need to nail the constant temp issue before attempting the next grow. I have taken the babies out and am using them as houseplants now, I'd rather they enjoy whats left of their life. One of them shrivelled up to almost nothing now so I might as well just let her die in peace :( the other is sort of holding on, but I don't think she'll survive being put back in an oven (!)

I had a normal 9" desktop fan blowing and oscillating on them since birth, which led to nice thick juicy stems and no stretching (up until 2 weeks ago when all the problems and heatwave started)...

Diagram of my setup, in case you can help with temps, it is a closet with normal door on it, painted flat white inside (there is currently no intake and the cooltube sucks air from around the plants, including stink, into the sealed carbon filter at the top).

To the left of the diagram (not displayed) is a sad and upset noob called lowcost.

Any suggestions, guys?

Okay, couple more questions. How big is your box and what size is your extraction fan?

The area below is about 5 foot high and 3.5 foot deep and wide (in inches: 55 high, 35 wide and deep), its a normal cupboard in the bedroom. Above the shelves it reaches to the ceiling. The RVK fan is the small version (http://www.hyjo.co.uk/rvk-plastic-cased-fans-50-p.asp). When I hold my hand over the exposed end of the cooltube it sucks like a hoover.

On the middle shelf where the RVK is, the digital ballast is also there, and I noticed that got quite hot too, so maybe I can move that out of the grow area. There is currently no actual "exhaust" to expel the warm area out of the the cupboard though. I was thinking some sort of hole at the top near the ceiling to maybe expel the unwanted heat as heat rises but I could be wrong and not thinking straight. Maybe I need to do the opposite and suck it in... just don't know really!

There is a fair gap under the door of about an inch where air from the bedroom goes into the grow area.

Thank you for your interest in helping out, I felt alone in this until I came to autoflower net.

That's your problem, you need to get the hot air out of the box. For that size space a 4" fan should be big enough. You'll need to cut a hole somewhere near the top and run your duct to it so that the hot air is pulled out of the box. I would also move the ballast out of the box as well. As you've already seen, they can also produce a good bit of heat. Once you do that I would expect your temperatures to drop to an acceptable level. You could also rearrange things a bit. Have the carbon filter first, then the cool tube, then the fan going to the outlet. Those fans always work better when they are pulling, rather than pushing, the air through the carbon filter. Since you're using a 4" fan I would also suggest a 4" opening near the bottom of the box to allow sufficient fresh air to be pulled in.

Hi bob, many thanks for your kind reply. Typical feeding/watering schedule was every 2-3 days, 1 litre water, 5ml biobizz veg. was that too much? The biobizz instructions say 5ml / litre :S

Hi there lowcost 5ml bizz grow to 1 litre is way to strong to get your lady going i use all bio bizz grow and bloom and i only put 1-2ml grow to every litre you need to start the first few feeds with a lower dose no matter what products you use to see how ur ladys react if they seem fine then you can increase the feed a little only my :2cents: Also muddy is right you need to get that hot air out and get the temps down anything above 85/90f is not to clever for ganja plants :peace: Si
