Tried my best but I think my first grow is doomed :(

Hi guys,

my babies, they're not well. It's my first grow with Think Different, and all was well up until last week (week 4). I am getting signs of stunting and wilting, so I figured: let them have less water cos they're wilting.

I thought it might be overwatering so I left them 3.5 days as well.

But then the leaves started to yellow so I noobed and used 1 and a half teaspoons of biobizz veg per litre of water, and now I have what looks like crispy leaves mostly near bottom but overnight, some near the top. The weather seems hot here at the moment and so is the grow room But the crispy leaves and burnt appearence isn't always at the top, its at bottom too...

I have read a HELL of a lot about the subject, about 6 months of reading before the grow and through the grow, it's something I took very seriously because I love my babies.

And I'm failing them. Now I have no choice but to turn to you guys in a hope you can rescue them.

I suspect it's nute burn (but why would they be yellowing if it was nute burn?! surely that is nitrogen def?) -

In any case today I flushed them instead of feeding. I am seeing signs of sexing but no upward growth much, and leaves are curling down.

Here are the pics of my two babies, I hope you guys can help me rescue them. I have a stable PH. I guess some of you guys will understand how upset I am, it's nothing to do with the fact I might not be toking, but everything to do with the fact I love them because I'm growing them (hard to explain)... pretty upset :(

Symptoms in order of appearence over the last week:

1. plants began to wilt, but not yellow except older lowest leaves - curling down
2. tried to correct by less water
3. no change, tried to correct with smaller water but higher concentration of nutes
4. leaves start to crumble, at the bottom and some upper leaves exhibit burning around the tips and edges
5. leaves crumble at tips in affected areas

Overall growth is very bushy, very thick stems and not brittle stems. I can't see purpling.

And just flushed them just now and sprayed them (I never usually spray anything due to problems I've read about but 100% panic mode you know?):

I want to save them, please help me.

Background info: the soil is biobizz organic light mix, no fert. Started gentle feeding after week 2. The plants have been growing for 5 weeks but I put seeds in final pot to begin with (an inch down) so timings might be off. Can't seem to locate anything except the odd female sex tendril. Feeds were with biobizz veg. 400w HPS with cooltube w/ pipe for extraction.

I also have topmax and bloom from biobizz but haven't used yet. Was waiting for flowering... currently they're out of the grow room in case it's just too much heat, giving them a little rest and natural sunlight. The yellowing happened before I upped the nutes (its why I upped them). But that's started the browning on tips!

im thinking watered too frequently and most recently too stong fert

ive never used the fert you mentioned , but the dose you gave them seems strong compaired to any ive used in the past , any ive used call for a teaspoon per gallon not litre and not teaspoon and a half

you dont want to water too frequently so id say as soon as they are due to be watered again flush them with straight ph ballanced water

crossing my fingers they survive for you

before the next watering try to inspect the rootball , when dry enough the plant should slip out of the pot easily , give a few good taps around the pot with a sppon or knife or something then lift the plant out , if you have a small root ball your plants wont be developing as healthy as needed

if you could post some better pics and a pic of the rootball that would be a great help for anyone here trying to help you

peace

Hi bob, many thanks for your kind reply. Typical feeding/watering schedule was every 2-3 days, 1 litre water, 5ml biobizz veg. was that too much? The biobizz instructions say 5ml / litre :S

Most likely your pH is off causing a nutrient lockout situation. Have you been checking the pH of your run off? If so, what is it reading? If it is the pH, adding more nutrients may only have compounded the problem.

from the look of your grow medium i dont think it would drain/dry enough and watering that frequently would be bad , i could be wrong though , only you would know how dry it got between watering , is there any weight to it before you water each time ? there shouldnt be much

if thats what the mix calls for then fine , but the stalks/stems (i had to zoom to see any)look like the plant is still small/young and shouldnt be receiving full ferts yet , and as mentioned , check your ph going in as well as comming out

peace

damn...well never used biobizz but looks like ph prob n nute burn poss cause of ph prob..but u said your ph is stable... whats your temp? maybe light too close..someone will pop in that a know a bit better with your soil n nutes..
hmm..what about over watering? Let her dry out give h20 no nutes for atleast 2 watering see how she does..kelp might be good to get her back but try h20 only first...and what wter are you using? distilled? tap etc?
lets get this thing sorted out...

5ml/ltr biobizz fish mix or bio grow is full strength yet organic and should not burn ya plants....I'm like Muddy...something has caused nute lock....and ya prob had overwatering....and heat.....best thing is patience...they ain't gonna get better with more 'tending'...

Hi guys,

Million thanks for the reply, I went by a friends word that our tap water was ph neutral, but on saturday I am going to go and buy testing kit and distilled water - and will report back here with the test results... she should be very thirsty by that point. Growing is something to be respected, I see that now and I shouldn't have assumed that tap would be ok even though it's said to be PH neutral here.

Your posts give me a slight glimmer of hope...

5ml is STRONG for Biobizz. I have used it and their feed chart recommends 1-3ML per liter. I've had the top max burn my plants but not the grow. Might be root damage from over watering compounded by over fertilizing. Certainly check ph if you are able.
