Grow Mediums Trial of Firsts

Looks more like calmag to me, though I'm no expert. I'd say it's not much more than a bit of discoloration at this point, up calmag a tad and see how she responds.

If circulating pump runs warm this would heat the rez. Can you adjust it so only it sits out a bit?

Thanks, I hope you are onto something there.
That pump, once upon a time was one Hans used I believe so I am eager to hear from him re: his experience. It's a tiny little thing that barely moves the half filled res so I am okay leaving it out of the equation for now.

I believe it's perhaps due to calimagic also so here's what I am going to do. The originator of the formula (Head) rec 1g/epsom salts per gallon. He stated this gave a more desireable nute profile for weed than using cal/mag, calimagic, etc. I was using the calimagic because I bought it early on. Head later determined that the epsom nor the cal/mag was necessary until or unless you started having issues.

I flushed em with another gallon of pure dechlorinated tap at pH 5.7. Once the drain completely, I dumped my res, rinsed it clean and made a fresh batch of five gallons with just the base nutes (Micro/Bloom) and .47g/gallon Epsom salts. Frankly, 2.4 grams (.47x5 gallons) is a minuscule amount, I probably put that on a steak.

Going to turn the res back on and leave the air domes off for a day or so and go from there.

Edit** The other thing I did was to order AN PH Perfect micro and bloom a half gallon each! As soon as theya rrive, that will become my base nutrient mix. Again, in my haste I bought before I found AFN (hat tip @Hansbricks )

Thanks.

I'm thinking whatever what was going on was averted. Plants seem to like the rez now and the pH in the rez has stayed at 5.8. pH in trays is 6.1. I've got the air domes cranked and the tap on and they seem to like it.

Apologies for the side posts, can't figure out how that happens.

If the pics are from your phone, make sure you take the pics with the lens on the left hand side of the phone in the top corner.

Day 13 (Day 7 with air and Rez on)

@pop22 @Hansbricks @Penrey @HemiSync @Sensi Jay

Status Quo here in Maine.

Plants are eating as the rez is down about two gallons. Rez pH holding steady @ 5.9 with 660ppm Temp 75.

There is growth and the main stems on both plants has swollen to the size of my little finger but I am not getting much height or stretch. Really compact nodes and I think it's going to be a challenge to LST these stocky young ladies.

I made up a bunch of U-Hooks out of wire coat hangers and began some leaf hiding and LST trying to open the centers a bit and get some growth upwards.

They look happy for sure. Sorry about missing out earlier, but it looks like you got it sorted pretty fast.
I like this stuff called Gardner's Blue Ribbon twist tie and one called Luster Leaf Rapiclip for training. I have had the same twist tie roll for years lol.

June 22, 2017 Day 15 in Autopots

The girls seem to be doing well. Lights are at 18/6 (photo's) and Rez is at pH 6.0, Temp 73 and Nutes 645ppm.

Still concerned with vertical growth. I need a little height to be gained to get to scrogging! I reconfigured my lights so I could raise them farther. I have them at 29" but the manufacturer rec. for these galaxy hydro's is a whopping 48 - 56" during veg. I doubt anyone follows that but could the light height hold these babies down?
