Photoperiod Transplant question when using large pots i.e.; 10 and 20 gallon

Just say you're in, post a pic, the age (since at 5 weeks max you have to flip) and the strain or strains being considered (as at day 30 you have to pick the final girl)

Question: When germing in a solo cup from seed and the finishing pot size is 10 gallon or 20 gallon, is it better to a.) transfer directly into the fishing pot, or b.) veg in a 3 or 5 gallon pot, then transfer into their finishing pot.

Please school me. I have only been using 2-5 gallon pots in the past to finish in so I'm curious what the standard is when using these larger sizes.

I figure the benefits of an intermediary pot would be that I could veg them in the same tent, so less electric, less chance of over watering while waiting for root development going from a solo cup to a 10 or 20 gallon pot, less salt/nutrient build-up I'm assuming because it's getting transferred into fresh media in the final pot.

Anyways looking for a guru who uses these size pots that has a proven method to share. :bighug:

If not I guess I'll be the guinea pig.:baghead: Lol. The plan will be to transplant one seedling directly, into a 10 gallon. The other I'll transplant into a 3 gallon, that will finish in a 20 gallon pot. Then I'll document my thoughts and observations in my grow journal that I have going.

Sorry brother.. I'm not the one to ask on this... I grow in one gallon grow bags and plant straight in the dirt. I don't transplant... I'm sure you've gotten plenty of help by now... Green grow karma to ya!

No problem, thank you for taking the time. I have gotten some tips, and I decided to transplant one my typical way, and then transplanting the other by just cutting the bottom out of the solo cup and then inserting it in the medium as was suggested. Whichever one does better, will be what I do going forward.:pass:

Tier transplanting has worked for me in the past. As suggested you could cut the bottom off then slip another over it. Fill the cup and plant. Then when you're ready just take the outer cup off... You don't have to worry about cutting the roots...

Dang I don't think I'll be able to join in on this comp then... because of how I'm growing my photoperiods this round. But I'll definitely follow along. My veg periods maybe closer to 6-8 weeks this go around.

Fair, yeah I guess 20 gallons of pottage probably won't be filled in 5 weeks lol -next time :d5:

Here are the SLH and Bubba's Gift in there respective pots. Now to get these seedlings to become monsters.

Bubba was a little sad, probably should've been transplanted yesterday or the day before, she was nearly rootbound but I had made a late decision to run her in a 10 gallon smart pot instead of the 5 gallon airpot. I'm not too worried, but something to note.

The next exciting event in my journal will be the upgrade to some Timber LED's that I will be purchasing on the 1st. I was going to add far red, but my budget won't allow it. I'll be buying the second set of lights for the 4x4 Dec. 1st, so hopefully I can add some Rapid LED far red pucks to that fixture, then if I see real results from using the far red then I'll add them to my other fixture.
