seriously first grow ever. So far I love this site and I'm hoping to get more responses than I do on some of the other not as helpful sites. I started 3 autos in [HASHTAG]#3[/HASHTAG] pots. 2 blue dream one amnesia haze. They are in a 32x32x63 grow tent. I'll include some pics at the end. The blue dream have been in the soil 8 days and the amnesia haze 4. The humidity levels right now aren't ideal (somewhere around 30). I've heard mixed things about humidity so opinions welcomed. I do have a small humidifier I was thinking of putting in there if I need to. The lighting is 600w mh right now and I'll switch to hps when they start to flower. The soil is ffof. The only amendment I've made to the soil is I topped it with some dolomite lime. I'm curious to know if the plants are looking ok, if they should be bigger/smaller etc. I also noticed on one of them the tips of the leaves look a little light like possible burn. I'd love to hear from anyone who can contribute anything at all to this ever growing cache of information I'm learning. I'll add this, I feel as if I'm over watering but idk. The light is about 20 inches from the plants. No plans to add nutes until day 18 or so, depending on how they look. 18/6 cycle.

Hey Frank! Great to meet you man! Unfortunately I have really crappy internet and cant load attached pics, but I am sure someone will drop by and give you some input soon. I read about foxfarm being hit and miss with the ph of the soil, so crossing fingers yours is perfect!
In the meantime here is a shot of rep for good luck. Hope your grow goes smooth as glass!

Hello @Frank Rizzo and welcome to AFN. There are many more qualified people to answer your questions better than I can. I'll do my best to help.

Firstly, foxfarm is seen here quite a bit, burning seedlings. Not the best choice for autos, I gather.
It appears you are laying the water on pretty heavy, for a seedling. Let it dry out. Wait for the pot to become light before watering again. It looks like that may be a while...A week...? How much have you watered?

As far as growth...They don't look to bad. The first couple weeks, all the action is happening underneath. Roots are growing, I can assure you.

I think you are off to a good start. And...You made the right choice coming here. This place has THE auto experts.

Good luck!

Thanks 912 I don't even know what the rep thing is but I'll give you some back!

We use rep to welcome new guys, or to show appreciation for a very helpful post or an awesome grow journal or strain review. When you give rep you can add a message, which is viewed by clicking the number beside "reputation", under your username.

So I was misting for a few days but the soil felt super dry. Here is where I probably fucked up. I watered the two blue dreams until run off came out the bottom. Not a lot of run off but still, I watered like I would have a normal full grown plant. The following few days I just sprayed with a water bottle. Today I put my finger into the soil and it felt dry so I watered again but this time it was just a tiny bit in a circle around each plant. Like maybe a half a cup of water each. I'll definitely leave it alone now that my paranoia has been justified. Also if you could tell me why you think it's being overwatered, it'll help me to learn more.
As far as the fox farm burning seedlings, since they are already planted, is there anything I can do to amend this? I added a tbs/gallon of lime on the top but I think that's just to normalize the ph? Anything else I should do? Thanks for the replies guys I posted on another forum a few days ago and haven't received anything. This would have been great a few days ago!

Yeah, watering the whole pot was not the best idea, IMO. It's okay though. I wouldn't water anymore. That includes misting, spraying. The. How you watered secondly, is exactly how I do it. I don't think the plants look overwatered. Tbh, I don't think it would be visible this early.

I try to treat the seedling like it lives in a small pot. Water in a small circumference, small amounts, increasing the diameter and amounts, as she grows.

You say your RH is 30%. That should help dry the pot some. Otherwise, I would say get that humidifier in there.

As for the soil...Wait for someone who is familiar with it. I don't think there is any course of action I can recommend confidently. Hang in there, they'll be fine.

I recommend starting a journal. A lot of great, helpful people will flock over and guide you to a smooth finish. If/when you do tag me like this @Yeatster I will be more than happy to help when I can.

Got a nice set up. With Autoflower cannabis you can go HPS from start to finish. Due to the short "VEG" cycle of Autoflowers. Switching from MH to HPS all the way through kinda makes sense. @mephisto Genetics does just that.
The girls look good. FFOF is a bit hot for seedlings. They'll be okay.
Cannabis is a very tolerant to dry conditions. It takes a hell of a lot of soil dryness to kill a cannabis plant.
Overwatering your plants is the [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] issue of new and even old timer's like me. Let the girls search out water. A good moisture probe is a good idea to get. Easy on the water; easy on the nutrients; Keep it simple.
Don't be too fast in giving your girls nutrients. FFOF can really have enough nutrients to give you three to four weeks of "feed". When you do give nutrients for the 1st time. ONLY 1/2 the dosage until you see how they react. That is so important. After you know what they can handle. Then go and grow.

Autoflower growing is no room for error. No time to fix silly newbie crap.
Keep the grow simple.
Best of luck.

I have a moisture probe coming tomorrow that I had ordered to check soil ph but it's one of those 3 in 1 probes: I don't think it's a high quality one but it seems to have decent reviews. Do you think that'll suffice or so you suggest I invest in a really good one?
Also if you or anyone else would know since autoflowers are so sensitive, the temp drops to about 63f during the 6 hours of darkness. Is this bad? I can go 20/4 to cut that shorter or if I have to I can even go 24/7 even though I feel dark period makes sense (every living thing sleeps).

First you get a 1st Timer Max Slap. :slap: Welcome Aboard.

What is a quality moisture meter? There are many models and designs out in the market. You can go super laboratory mode or just a nice devise to check the moisture. I have one that is called the HoldAll Three-Way Meter; Moisture, pH and Light. Got it at the HOT BABE :dancer: Grow Shoppe. So I purchased the meter not really for the quality, but the grow shop owner is SMOKING HOT. The numbers are very hard to read, but it's not used as an exact moisture instrument or pH meter. I use it to get an idea of the soil dryness towards the end of the WET/DRY cycle. After a while you get to know how much time between watering just by lifting the containers to feel the lightness or heaviness of the container. Any grow shop or garden center should have them. The Accurate 8 has been tossed around as a good pH meter; I don't know if they have a moisture meter.

What is the temps in the grow space when the lamps are on? Ideal is 75F-82F. A drop of 10 degree is normal when the lights go off in indoor grows and even outside when the Sun goes down. I don't think that lower temp should be an issue. Keep the RH in a 40%-50% range if possible.
Really.....If you are comfortable in your environment; example of nice room temp, not too hot, not too cold. Then the same goes with your girls. Mimic the perfect Sping/Summer days in VEG and the Late Summer/Autumn in FLOWER.

I go 18/6. I have always grown Autoflower Cannabis at 18/6. Plants need rest, like all living things. Give them a good 6 hours of darkness.

Don't baby your plants. Let them search for water in the early stages. Then when the roots become established and that usually after the 2nd week. Go on a WET/DRY cycle.
Full saturation of the soil (WET) to near total dryness (DRY). That's TO near total dryness and the moisture meter will help in that.

That's how I water/feed. Other AFN grower's do other watering methods. My good friend @Rhyce Saroni water/feed his plants differently than I do after the seedling stage. That's what he does...he's got the time to work his garden, because that's all he does.
I find a WET/DRY cycle is the best of both worlds and makes my growing a little easier.

Best of luck to you and just enjoy. :greenthumb:
