Grow Mediums Too big?

Yeah I definitely see what you mean with the wasted nutes. I still say if you run super soil and try not to get to much run off would be a legit way to run these buckets.. I want to get an autopot system myself, that will be my next significant purchase for my garden. Probably won't be until winter though, I'm spending a lot of money amending and building my outdoor garden this year!

Because you're making up nutes for maybe 3 gal (depending where your res line is), whereas the roots would be fine in a much smaller 3 gal pot with a 1 gal res, unless you want trees.
It's like having to water the entire pot if you have a 1 week seedling in a 20 gal pot of coco....

Haha, wish I had this problem at the moment.
Thanks

I'd used them for DWC but not hempy

I found these 10 Gallon buckets with lids at Menards. They are just a few inches taller and wider than 5 gallon buckets. Are they too big? I'd like to do "hempy style" if these will work should I make a hole in the lid for the plant or just leave the lid off? Lid would make a great stabilizer for the fill tube...
Suggestions appreciated. @Gladiators

I've grown 7ft plants in a 6.5ft tent using 5 gallon auto pots....... you want smaller pots in that size tent. 3 gallon would be about perfect for hempy and your still going to grow some big plants. Training is a must!

Its a sip/wic system. Never did one. I am sure it is too big as you all say. How will it waste nutes? Just fill to the overflow every few days. Right? And yes trees are a problem. I have a 3' diameter 22" tall Auto Sour Kush in veg/pre flower in my tent At the moment. She is so big. It is a problem in a 4x4 with 4 other plants when one takes up half the tent. For perspective that is a 7 gallon pot.
