New Grower To trim or not to trim??? Help

I think it's just a difference of opinion here rather than a personal dig ^_^ it happens on every defoliation thread.

Don't take it personally and if something works for you, keep on doing it - maybe try the other method another day and see how that goes.

It's all good here :D

:vibe: (jiggyl vibe beast! :D)

It can't be a different opinion because I don't have an opinion, yet. I'm still evaluating arguments and anecdotal evidence and personal experience.

Maybe I'll be interested in throwing my weight around when I have a firm opinion one way or the other and some empirical evidence to support it.... Then again, maybe not. Too many egos fighting for supremacy and i don't need to dodge the stray bullets.

I'll leave that to those that have something to gain. Back to reading and shutting up. :)

Sounds like the best kind!

Don't be put off contributing in the meantime - sometimes people's enthusiasm can be mistaken for something else
:pighug:

Let your voice be heard :D

I wasn't arguing with you or contradicting. You can be the expert on the topic here, if you want. :)

I was just bored and careless enough enough to toss a few thoughts out there. My bad.

Brother what on the moon are you talking about? I am really at a loss as to how you took my post that way................ :dizzy:

My apologies if I came across in a corrective manner. That was not my intent. I am a new grower as well and this is one of the subjects I am most interested in. I thought I was bouncing ideas with you? By no measure am I an expert at this subject, all I can do is provide you my personal experience and open-up talking points. This was/is my intent. I even closed by stating an argument against it?

I'm not for against it well... For the most part I'm for it. It seems with every grow I have to pull leaves at some point. I used to never pull leaves cut branches any of it. But as time goes on... You wind up with large light bocking leaves covering small unproductive undergrowth. In turn you end up feeding leaves that give you popcorn or larf.
It's definitely growers discretion. Some plants love being bent broken and abused some really don't like it at all.
Play around a little and see what works, for you and your plants

Seemed like you were taking exception to what I said, for whatever reason. Seemed so because you started your post quoting me and beginning.....

"Except," you are already feeding them a King's buffet."

That's the moon I was on. Not arguing. Just explaining. Peace out!

Only way to tell is take two nearly identical plants in the same grow and defoliate one and don't defoliate the other ... I don't because from my understanding of the science it doesn't help the yield ... back when I used to lose a lot of leaves to deficiencies I would remove the dead ones but now I seldom lose a leaf until just before harvest ... I'm under the impression that light penetrates leaves so I subscribe to the theory that if the leaf is green it stays ...

For me, if it's ALL green it stays. Mostly, anyway. But then again, I experiment with stuff. Right now I've got two solar storm 440's in fixed position in my room serving 29 plants.

Lots of suggestions that the light is good for up to maybe four plants. :)

And little to not plucking, training or other modification. I'll find out whether it means larf city or easy street soon enough. :)

Nothing appears overly stretched, light starved or nutrient deficient at this point. :)

Holy, that's all under two lights?? Nice!

Man, you have no idea what a change I've gone through. Started with one solar storm 440 and a general hydroponics GH-18. I was running 9 plants at a time and was never happy with the result.

Turned out I was frying them. The aero unit sacrificed headroom where I didn't have a lot. And I kept getting told to get my lights closer for bigger buds.

You get your plants within 12 inches of these and they'll just get fried. So....

First mistake was to do better by doubling the light some got another one. And the harvest was even shittier.

Still I'll didn't figure it out. California lightworks claims their lights are powerful enough to veg at six feet. Turns out they weren't exaggerating.

1 light flowers 3x3 and Veges 6x6. So I veg on the outside and flower on the inside and Christmas tree shapes make that work pretty well without shading the youngsters. :)

Last bud I flowered like that.....

Lights were 2 feet from the top.

I think I give up some weight with the 5w Led 440's (total actual max output about 330 watts). Maybe. But it allows mi a whole LOT of flexibility and variety and damn, these buds are strong!!!!!

The lights were damned expensive. But the bang for the buck seems pretty good. ;). They even have UV-b boosters for the last two weeks of flowering.

I bought them before I found out about the LEC-315 lights that I have come to like a whole bunch. I've got one of them doing a blue kush grow in a tent. Started them Under the LED's though.

Let me know if you can see the time lapse. It says it isn't available but it works for me when I click it.

That's kind of what I was saying about trying new and different things. You never know until you try it yourself. Your plants don't look like they're having any troubles that's for sure
