New Grower THINK DIFFERENT GROW

@jingo i have a couple questions for ya if u dont mind, its about hydro and scrog

First off if i did a scrog next would it be ok to do with the same four 16litre pots im using,i imageing it would be good as ive made a sort of sog with the 4 pants.

Secondly about hydro what type eould be best for me

At first i was thinking a wilma 4 pot system

But thought maybe a dwc now what would be better a multiple bucket set up like a few of these
Screenshot_20180518-185542_eBay.jpg

Maybe best if a few smaller like 19litre ones

Or a multi dwc like these

I like the 4 plant 100litre one for maybe if did a scrog or could just put one plant in and be a 100litre single one.

Or just a big single one like this

100litre 4plant one is 30ish less than the single 55litre and could put a fee in there.

But i dont get it because plants get big in dwc and how do they grow so close to eachother. See this pic they had one in there but imagine the others where filled up it would be crazy packed

I think the one on left is going to go 13 weeks

The back two look the same, abit behind the maturest one and abit head of the young looking one

I think the Wilma's are okay, I wouldn't have four of them together I might have two.

Single deep water culture buckets I think are a good idea, when doing a scrog you have to have an easy way to drain them and replenish the res.

I wouldn't have more than one plant in deep water culture bucket/tote at a time. Not only do you get plants with different nutrient requirements, but if you get an illness or an infestation in one plant you get the roots all tangled together and then you really have issues.

There are recirculating systems that might be worth looking at because your Reservoir will be out from under your scrog. I haven't used those myself but I think they're pretty simple.

Whatever method you try I think two plants to start off would be a good idea. They can get really big in deep water culture if you do them right.

When I was doing deep water culture and wanted to go a little longer without changing buckets, I would use two of them linked together. I always thought it would be a good way to do a scrog because you could have the bucket that you fill your nutrients out from underneath the scrog.

Here are some pictures of what I did, I used uniseals and I can get Dimensions if you're interested.

So what you're doing is growing in one bucket and filling your nutrients in the other bucket. You keep an AirStone going in each and you buy a nice big air pump and use nice big stones. You can get the net pot lids on eBay usually.

Ok cheers man i have a better idea of ehat ild get now im thinking if i want to do one plant i will get the 100litre one

And if want to fo a couple will get a couple bucket ones.whqt size buckets do you think from 19litre-33 litre?

I imagine two big plants being a pain in my small tent unless maybe do a scrog.

About what you did with the diy buckets.i culdnt trust myself to do it properly lol pobabally flood my flat.

And ill prob invest in one of these stone things.
If in a round bucket one like this

I think 19 liter is perfect size for a deep water culture bucket. You can go down a little smaller you know maybe like 13 or 14 and up just a little bit bigger you know maybe like 26-27 but I like 19.

I'm not sure those are diffusers in those pictures are the best. Maybe I'm a little biased because they're so easy to make and you can make them in any configuration you want. Let me see if I can find my materials around and get you a picture of how you make them.

Well I guess I don't have any of the equipment easy to find that I've used to make my Soaker Rings like that in the past. But those rings are made with drip irrigation equipment. Mainly T fittings and quarter inch Soaker lines. Then you put quarter inch washers around to weigh it down and you use quarter inch hard plastic line to feed into it.

That brings up a good subject in self built units. I like to use quarter inch drip irrigation line inside my bucket and for the first two or three feet outside my bucket. I like it because it's black and it's hard and if I set a bucket down on it it won't pinch It Off. Then after that first few feet I follow up with the real soft flexible normal black Airline.

Here are the only supplies I could find from when I made mine. I ended up with this big old stone diffusers, you have to kind of play around and decide what works you could do a combination of Soaker rings and another stone that might work pretty good.

Ok cool,i wish i was more confident i would do it myself but just cant be assed flooding my flat lol

I thing i could do with some help on is switching to hydro nutes.ive looked but didnt feel any more confident on k owing what to get.
What nutes do you use like not brand but the name of the nutes.or what would you recommend

Cheers

I use the General Hydroponics line. Including their silica and there liquid and powdered koolbloom. I've used their rapid start I think it works okay it's kind of expensive. I don't use the rapid start in Coco anymore it just doesn't seem to be all that necessary.

There are some nutrient lines like Advanced nutrient that can automatically keep your pH in an acceptable range. They're more expensive but a lot of people new to deep water culture have done better with those.

And had the issue everyone seems to use gh nutes but they are hard to get in england.then saw the ghe (europe) range but heard theyre abit diferent.they are quite cheap actually on ebay here, also then people say get flora nova ones lol
