New Grower THINK BIG AUTO - Loosing my virginity

Hey buddy nice set up. I'm a fellow hydro head. Anything you need to know just tag me and I'll get back when I'm on :)
Couple things jumping out at me.
Firstly, keep the plant in just the rockwool for a few days till its rooted up.
Personally I go 2 weeks but just whenever there's a few roots poking through is good enough.
Reason being. You want the cubes like 30-40% wet. Too wet and the roots will drown, too dry and theyll fry. Keep it there and the roots will grow infinitely faster. They also just need water at this point. My taps run 48ppm and they can go on that for 6 days. Easiest way with best root development is in a humidity box of some sort. Mines cost 99p.

I seen you say you soaked them in ph water, did you rinse the shit out of em first? Gotta give em a good long rinse under slowish running water (so they dont fall apart) to get all the crap out. It's alkaline as fuck and stunts them if your unlucky. Last thing you need with autos.

Secondly that's a big tent. I'm too stoned to go hunting the lights down, I'll get sidetracked and go off on a tangent somewhere. ..
but you're probably a bit shy depending on what the green finger one is. Also cheap shit chinese blurples are alright. I use them amongst other things.
Really shit ones are brilliant for seedlings cos you can get em closer. Don't chuck it.

And lastly are you using sm90, hydroguard or something like that to keep the res clean? Some manage without it but it's really risky. Usually ends in root rot and masses of gunge.
I go for sm90. Only need 0.3ml/L so it goes pretty far like. Handy to use as a root booster for seedlings too :)

Hey thanks dude. I did not rinse the Rockwool after soaking (fuck) after reading your post I seemed to have fucked up quite a bit. I’ve just been using uc roots from current culture (is that enough) also I just chucked them straight in rock wool after they geeked and then straight into the system with water about an inch below rock wool. I kinda knew my ppm was way out of line but I was following a chart from current culture and only added small amount day 6 (ppm around 440) and did this because they seemed like they weren’t growing hahaha which I’ve read a thousand times not to do but for some reason did it anyway. I’m day 13 today. Flushed the system last night and added way to much nutrients again (ppm 980)so came home from work not long ago and dialed it back to 870 but it’s jumping around at the moment so hopefully it settles in a bit. Ill be adding more lights later as needed. I have a shit ton of those shitty Chinese blur pals if I need to bust me out. Just never heard good things. I’ll throw up some photos and you can let me know if I’m killing these poor girls hahaha very much appreciated mate!!!!!

Hey guys back at Day 13

I’ve been constantly stressing about root rot and mould and all that bad stuff. Added and portable aircon and got the chiller working properly but went by for a day or 2 with around 30c temps and 23-24c water temp.
Will probably end up diluting the nutrients even more because I can’t stop stressing about that now hahaha
Thanks for watching along everyone and all opinions; questions and kind words of encouragement are welcomed.

Just a few questions.
Is this normal growth for the timeframe?
And should I just get rid of the Siamese seedling? Is it so far behind that’s it’s not worth the effort?

Best thing to do with that feeding chart is roll it up into a tiny little ball and see how far you can throw it. I've never seen one that was even vaguely close to being almost acceptable. Don't know how they get away with it like.

In hydro we don't use feed schedules. That's what your ppm meter is for.
Ppm goes up means the plant is taking more water than nutes so the mix is becoming stronger.

Ppm drops means it's taking more nutes than water so the mix is becoming weaker.

Ideally, you want about 10% drop per day. That means they're taking slightly more nutes than water at their own free will so are able to pick and choose when to absorb what.
If it gets too strong the Nitrogen will take over, block everything else out and fry the plants.

Number goes up you add water.
Number drops you add nutes.
Easy :)

What the plant actually absorbs goes up by roughly 100ppm per week.
So basically your 900 ppm mix is for a plant the size of the pic. That's one I vegged for 7 weeks,2 weeks after the flip. 9 weeks = 900 ppm (+tap water)
Fuck the pic won't load. Hang on..

Nah bollocks. I'm just back to the site after a break and it's changed so can't figure how to upload. Off to go hunting for an answer lol

Thanks brother, so should I be including the ppm of my water in your equation. So add the 100 on top or just give it straight water if my Ppm is around 300

All good man, just re read the add tap water. Fuck I’m stressing now. I’ll go sort it now. Again thanks for the help man.

Don't stress mate this is the beauty of hydro. If it's not right just empty the res and start again. Problem solved instantly.
