It's been a while since I posted a journal - but I have still been growing (and smoking the results)

So I thought it time to throw/post a grow journal in here (AFN) again...
For this grow I return to one of the nicest plants I have grown before, the delicious
"Zamnesia's Auto Caramel"
I will be using my goto standard setup, with the addition of a new item/toy or two along the way.
The Basic Setup I use.
- Ventilation / Intake
- Outside Air from Ground Level >>> Wall Hole Entrance with Bug Screen >>> Ducting >>> 5" Systemair High Volume Fan >>> (Enter Tent) 5" Ducting >>> Diffuser (to be fitted)
- Filtration / Exhaust
- 8" Rhino Pro Carbon Filter (800m/3) >>> Reduced to 6" Duct >>> Powerplant Aerowing Air Cooled "Sealed" Reflector >>> 6" Duct >>> High Velocity Systemair 6" (720m/3) >>> (Exit Tent) Acoustic Ducting >>> Wall Exit.

- Fully adjustable height of all lights to Max Height if required (Flexable ducting on Light Hood)
- Environmental Control
- 4ft x 4ft x 6ft Tent
- Evolution Fan / Temp / Rh Controller
- 4ft Tower oscillating fan
- Assorted clip fans
- Humidifier / Fogger with variable level, pumps cooling fog to plants
- De-Humidifier
- Home Built Humidifier / De-Humidifier Controller

Wet a couple of seeds in shot glasses, 3 days later potted into paper cups, 3 more days and on the 1st November 2018 (Calling this Day 1), the seedlings popped their heads above ground.
They were transferred to the tent and put under lights on Day 4.
DAY 6
Those that may have seen any of my other journals, will know that I like "Detail"
One of the new items I will be using is the Pulse One, an environmental logger, that should help keep track of the grow and enable me to fine tune the tent conditions.
Just plug and play they said...
And that's exactly what it did. It connected to my home WiFi first try, and once set up in the tent, it looked to be working as it should.
It passed the plug and play test !

So with it all set up in the tent, I used the data to dial the environment in to where I want it...
Here are a couple of screen shots of Data, with the seedlings In the tent, running with a medium high Rh%.
I know from my previous grows of this strain that they can take a bit of leaf-curl in early days and like the higher temps.
Pretty good values being achieved, very little variation in temps and Rh and the VPD readings are spot on.
24 Hr View (Day & Night 20 on/4 off)
3 Hr View (Day/Lights on)
30 min View (Day/Lights on)
For those that may be interested, here is an explanation of what is happening in the charts above...
- The temp remains almost constant (but obviously, different temps for day & night). Concentrating on "Day" for this example...
- The Humidifier is on a low trickle, increasing the Tent Rh% slowly.
- When Rh creeps up to it's Max (set at around 60%), the "Evolution Controller" opens the exhaust fan for around 15 secs on tickover speed and/or the Humidifier is switched to pause.
- This results in the Rh dropping 1 or 2% (the VPD rises a little, in a balancing action).
- The "Evolution Controller" sees the dropping Rh and stops the extraction fan / restarts the Humidifier.
- Gradually the Rh increases very slightly again.
- This very gentle "see-saw" or cycle repeats every 8-10 mins.
My tent is fully automated (as far as possible), using a variety of tools I am lucky enough to have in my locker.
Some are specialist bits of kit, some are pretty basic, but all good if used in the correct way.
It takes a bit of time, learning & tinkering, adjusting, etc; to get all the different bits of kit balanced and working together, but once done.... Just set it and go.
I also have the app on my phone and like the way I can check on my tent from anywhere in the world (well, anywhere I am likely to go). And, should a light fail, etc, I get a notification.
Oh.... No prizes for spotting when I opened the tent to water the seedlings
(hint.... It's in the first chart)
This grow is now officially underway
So.... Pull up a chair and and have a joint, enjoy the grow. Invite some friends.
