New Grower The Killing Fields (aka My First Grow)

Setup:
36x20x62 Tent in currently unventilated closet. AC vent coming very soon.

200 cfm fan and carbon filter ducted out of the room.

6in duct booster fan on inlet

2x Hydrofarm reflectors with 200w Feliz cfl's 6500k for now on 20/4. Only 1 on until Friday(AC vent install).

2 Circulating fans

OF/HF in a 50-50 mix with a bag of Fertilome perlite for good measure(now)

PH'ing with the GH drops kit.

Watering: When the cups feel light, about 2-3 days

Strains:
60 Day Wonder Northern Lights Auto Super Auto Sativa Vertigo

Germed a Black Jack Auto and a 60 Day Wonder as replacements for those above that will most likely DIE or BE KILLED.

Seeds were germed using the DVD case on the cable box method. 100% so far.
Then they were put into party cups with MG Organic Choice. It was the best I could find and everything looked healthy,but stunted, until my last feeding on 4/18.

I gave them some Bush Doctor. I thought I read the dosage correctly and I reduced it by half, I think. Maybe my math skills are fading with age.

They started a downhill slide Thursday evening. On Saturday, I flushed with water. Flushed again today and transplanted (tiered) into the Fox Farms mix with a hole cored out in the center and filled with Jiffy Organic Seed Starter mix. I ran a run off test, as best I could with the drops, and it read about 6.5 prior to cutting the cups and tiering.

I will most likely kill of 2 of them in favor of the newly germed seeds that I planted in the seed starter mix yesterday.

Please...have a laugh at the attached pictures. I know I did. I was almost too embarrassed to post a journal with that crap, but I see it as the great AFN Challenge of 2012 for you kind people to help me salvage these polio stricken bitches.

Muddy- Feel free to hold me up as the "How not to grow" example.
I plan on starting a "lessons learned" thread in the newbie forum. It's been a comedy of errors so far with heat problems, ventilation issues, ph, soil, fert, you name it, I have F'ed it up well. I could teach a class!!

Heard on a gardening show “if youre not killing something youre not learning how to grow anything“. With the soil you might have burnt them with the feeding. It will take a little whole for the damage to repair its self. More experienced growefs will chime in soon. I killed off dozens of seeds, seedlings and clones over the course of my year indoors.

They were still in party cups when I applied the Bush Doctor, but still had MG organic soil there. Full of chicken poop and wood waste.

Don't worry about it I stunted the hell out of my first grow and as of right now my first plants are about 52 days old and stand 3 inches tall and I am not having a very good start on my second attempt, its very discouraging sometimes but I know that I will get it right soon if I keep learning and you will too, you seem to have a good sense of humor about it which is great because there are times where you can either laugh or cry and it feels better to laugh good luck.

I was going along, reading your setup and thinking, that's good, that's good, that's good. Then I saw the MG soil. I shutter when I see new growers trying to use it.

Make sure you check the pH on your mix before you tier your new seedlings into it. We've seen a lot of variation in the pH of the OF right out of the bag. Some of it has been very low, in the high 4 and low 5s.

It was 6.4 out of the bag, but my containers got rained on. After 2 days in the sun, the ph was at 7. I flushed the containers(no plants) with some 6.2 water and after an hour, they read 6.6
I transplanted about an hour after that.
