Live Stoner Chat The Games Room

Ive been gaming since the mid eighties, but started with a Commodore vic 20...NES to Xbox 360. Used to collect and sell vids, but now i am only with a few dozen systems and a few hundred games(mostly PS2 and Xbox 360/ps3)
Really want to get a PS4 soon to play the fallout4. Loved fallout 3 and new vegas.

I play lots of vintage games when i have spare time. Old rpgs like baldurs gate 2, icewind dale ect. Lately i have been getting the wii hooked up with emulator games...awesome...have every NES, SNES< Sega, Genesis, Lynx, gameboy and colour, atari and tons more saved on a harddrive. The wii makes an excellent emulator system if you want vintage console games.

IF there are still PS3 users out there, it seems there is now a way to homebrew certain PS3's (older Phat and Slim models) WITHOUT modchips, using a flasher to take the system rom back to a certain version, and so on, in other words up to official version 4.82 can now be "softmodded".

I can see some fun there with assorted things out there....

So the madness continues, with the official PSOne Mini going on sale soon and the promise of a rebooted Genesis/Megadrive compatible with at least 2000 releases, unlike the cheap Chinese knock offs which are tied to whatever is programmed into them, the retro-gaming scene is certainly growing some steam, and when you see what some people are wanting for certain retro-classic gaming systems your jaw drops suddenly.

Ok, so I have a question: there are one current release, two November releases and one December release that I’m interested in maybe purchasing. I am curious what other people think:

1. Red Dead Redemption 2
2. Fallout ‘76
3. Battlefield V
4. The Division 2

I didn’t play the first Red Dead. I played Fallout 4 and I liked that you played by yourself. I played Battlefields 4 and 1 and enjoyed them as much as one could enjoy getting constantly sniped and teabagged. I played the Division and I thought it was meh.

Are there any of these four releases that are “must buys”?

i’ve sunk about 10 hours in to Red Dead

I didn’t play the first, doesn’t seem to matter.
incredibly detailed and immersive world, NPC’s have mannerisms that can creep you out, fully fledged fishing and hunting sim built in, makes you feel like Clint frickin’ Eastwood

play it in first person mode like me and you’ll find it’s very similar to how Fallout/Skyrim plays.

it’s great.

Well, it had to be done. You see, this laptop is an old i5 3230 with only 4Gb ram, has been speeded up slightly by using an old flash memory card for the swap file, but until I have the spare cash for parts to build a new one the simplest way to boost things is to add more ram, and that means another 8Gb is on it's way from China to triple the ram. When I build the new one, then her laptop and the miniPC get their ram doubled, so it's not wasted money.

€40 from China vs €80 in the stores here, it's a no brainer.

Man, I loved Baldur's Gate (and the sequels/expansions)
Icewind Dale bugged out on me though and didn't get a patch for a while, so I binned it.

There is an 'enhanced edition' of BG now available with Tales of the Sword Coast expansion built in, and a load of improvements.
Soooooo tempted to buy that right now...
There is also an Enhanced edition of BG2 with the Shadows of Amn and Throne of Baal included.
