Suddenly it’s impossible to find half gal jars anywhere. Anyone have good alternatives for curing?

I found that also i had to go with reg mouth jars, i think the covid, most people must be growing lol either canna or something else. I got mylar foil bags - large bags also, could be useful, i may trail them. I current use them to store seeds in the fridge.

Keep checking they go in and out of stock. I have found them by me at Farm and Fleet and Walmart. There is always turkey oven bags.

Just found this on Ed Rosenthal’s site, claims curing in jars or closed containers is wrong. I did this with a Cherry Triangle branch awhile ago, and it did make for an awesome smoke. It’s actually still hanging in my dry room, every now and then I just pull a nug off the branch and go to town. Maybe I’ll roll a joint off it tomorrow night and give it some real thought.

I disagree with him on the jars. It a matter of technique. I place hygrometers in my jar and if the RH goes above 64% I pour them back out onto the drying wrack for a few hours. sometimes I have to do this twice.it slows the drying and retains the terpenes. I use Boveda packs to control humidity I start with the 62% then after 2-3 weeks I switch to 58%. I'll use these for another month. Then I let them dry completely and keep them jarred. I now vacuum seal my jars after the 4-6 week cure. They'll stay fresh over a year that way. And when I open a jar, you can smell the aroma 20 feet away!

I agree with you @pop22, I will cure most of my harvest in jars, though I’m curious to try new things. Though I do read a lot more than I actually try out.

I like to try new ways also. I don't have the space to even consider this though. But I have a floor level space in a kitchen cabinet that's perfect for my jars its always cool there.

Not sure if I should be happy that I knew to check or upset that it’s begun, but I pried apart one of the giant colas on La Peyote and found the very beginnings of botrytis. I knew it was a risk with buds so big, I guess I’m glad I caught it really early but disappointed that I knew it was a risk and didn’t use preventative more often. H2o2 later today and then southern ag tomorrow. Daily monitoring and early harvest if it progresses at all. She is almost ready anyway, but her colas are massive and not getting directly blown by the fan, so I’m just asking for it.
I’m hoping that the smaller, more spaced buds on my higher priority plants will fight any chance of botrytis, going to be watching closely now that it’s popped up. Garlic butter has small buds but they’re so freaking dense.
