@Waira last update for August on the OD Ethos photoperiod girls.
:woohoo1::vibe::woohoo1: An outstanding year for you Jean, the genetics have shown beautifully so far and the results of your care are the best I can recall from you as well! Much respect to you and GTG for running the in-ground grows and always getting such fine results!... I can't wait to see these beasties in full prime bloom :hump:
Fun stuff on the volunteers, just to see how they perform all on their own!
Time for you to start taking night shots if you can, just some buds shots are fine... We wanna see the Goods= :pimp:
How are the aromas coming along? LD sounds very interesting, unusual, I do get the fresh-clothed aroma thing... a rare aroma profile!
:greenthumb:All of them are looking super healthy and happy! .... good to see face to the name my friend :smoking:, stay cool and be careful in that weather, it's very taxing...
I've readily available and quick on the uptake two products for flower nutes, my FFJ and Eden BlueGold - Fusion Flower. I got the BlueGold as a back up if my FFJ didn't do well, but I'm alternating it. Lots of good micro nutes in it. I like to have different sources and in different forms if possible. I'm also running MicrobialMass that's supposed to help with flower nutes uptake and utilization.

I do think the amount of microbial activity and the multiple sources is vital along with their bigger garden helpers of compost mites, worms and all the other good bugs has been very key in this grow.

Early on when the planter wasn't full, I mixed my nutes up with my compost and made a slurry. I used this method to help keep liquid nutes from flushing out into the rez. I have a fairly good size mounded pile. I'm getting a rough idea of the plant's utilization of that part just by looking at the root structure. I can now safely add more liquid feed to the top of the media without worry. This is more often, but in smaller amounts. This is also the first EWC I've used since I started feeding my worms a very different quality of feed. :eyebrows:

BAS Craft Blend has some micro nutes and has been used at a lower than rec use from the beginning as a top dress with it's short and long term availability. I'll probably scale the craft blend back a little and add more of the two bloom related nutes.

With the two bloom nutes being added, I scaled back the amino acids slightly. I think I'll keep it at its current rate, and scale back if I see any tip burn. New growth does look very nice and dark green.

I think the big girl's buds will finish out different and I think bigger that the wee one. There are just simply more leaves on the developing colas, by a quite large amount. I think the rate of bud growth is more than the smaller one was at the same stage. I think she'll be quite a bit more demanding on the added nutes with her much larger size, rate of bud growth and about half of the material in the container to draw nutes from.

Little girl is fairly close, but still lots of fresh bud growth. I'll get my scope out this week to see the trichs.............along with bug poop and the sort.
:greenthumb: I'd say you have your butt covered nine-ways and sideways too!  ..... an excellent organic run Bill, you could give Hecno a run for his $$!
the fattening has been absolutely proper, it'll be a gas to see the big girl loaded up like her little sister!
That's my worry as usual, keeping ahead of the demand curve, coz getting behind it in organics is a genuine bitch to get back in line, especially in small volume pots like mine. DOHz and LBH girls are showing some fan snacking, but nothing out of line... LBH has gotten a bit plae overall, not sure why or if it's her "normal" but I'm upping the SO4 some and doing a couple foliars with Microblast and a little epsoms plus fulvic acid....

.... yes, check the trichs and let them do most the talking, these landrace Sati's tend to stack and stack calyxes, topping off with new pistils late into the game,... ignore them, and evaluate the plant as a whole- ... ambering is rather variable too, I don't trust it much anymore, so I take things when all are cloudy with >10% ambering on calyxes (not sugar leaves, they turn sooner).. Just my personal preference! you nose and her aroma strength is another good measure...
UPDATE #8 Venom OG end of third week of flowering
:d5: wow, they are LOADING up on the bud sites! Another great show coming here...

:cooldance: some action on my end.... I took some night shots on the ChemD/SDHz,...the rest day shots yet...

You not shave during playoffs also?
Heheheh not looking forward to trim prison on the foxy one today...
For hash Do you guys snip, vacuum seal and freeze or dry, cure, freeze?

I might know a few organic tricks and methods, but I don't know canna the way Hecno knows his canna! I don't take the comparison lightly, though. I consider it a very big compliment.

I'm finding EarthBoxes very interesting.Jeremy of BAS in his 10x10 tent series has an interesting theory on how the cannabis plant adapts and functions in EarthBoxes. What I've found in this grow does seemingly back up his theory.

His theory is very basic, but I think there is a lot more to explore and possibly take advantage of. I'll just call it BAS EarthBox, because it does go completely away from what EarthBox recommends in media and operation. Once the root system sends out enough roots to explore all the sides of the EB, you can add water to the rez. You can then top dress, dry or wet. This is the start of the process of the plant basically utilizing the root system as two different systems. One that uptakes water from the rez and the other that takes nutes from the media and with top dressing, mainly the top. Letting the rez and the roots go dry for a short period doesn't hurt the roots and helps the media to not go anaerobic.
Now, that a very simplified and generalized way of explaining what Jeremy thinks is happening and it does make sense to me. The plant can take up water without the need to take up nutes along with it.............hence easier to avoid, to some degree, over feeding. The roots gathering nutes for the plant can progress into freshly added compost mixed with nutes as the plant needs. Most of the nutes I'm using now are very readily available, especially with all the microbial activity I strive to maintain. I've examined the mounded up compost slurry. I don't see the huge root intrusion I've seen in other's grows and my first one. The roots are there, just the fine, I call 'em exploratory, roots. They are not there in large quantities, and there's not the large feeder roots either.

With the size of the plant and the relative size of the material in the pot, you would think the roots would be all thru the media and on the surface. It's just not there. I'm sure it's thick down below the surface, but it is a pretty good bit below the surface. This says to me that once this 'system' is up and running, the plant is not forced to take up nutes to get the water it needs. I think this lets the plant take up the nutes as it needs them.

This doesn't mean the roots in the water can't take up nutes or the opposite.

Maybe I'm totally wrong.

It's what makes any sort of sense to me. I know it sounds odd, but there's not any other grow method that can develop such a system. If this is pretty much factual of what's happening in the root structure, it does bring up some interesting things. I don't think you can drive nute uptake by driving VPD higher, at least not to the same extent.

I welcome the comments guys! What do you guys think?

I just started making dry ice hash and my first effort was with last years crop. So the bud had cured for a year. Check out Frenchy Cannolis YouTube’s or Bubble Bowls

I usually run dry or dry cure but I decided to see what’s new in the science of things and fresh frozen is all the rage giving more terpene flavour and an overall better quality product...
I usually break it up a bit but I’ve been reading about vacuum sealed freshly frozen whole buds.. I don’t have flash freeze but I’m sure I can rig up some sort or raised thing with dry ice for a few minutes the. Transfer into regular freezer until used..
I also seen something about in the fridge for a day or so fresh cut then processed but that’s a lil much
