You haven't had a very good start in your uk canna adventure have you but i think maybe next time get them started indoors give them a bit of a leg up if thats possible

True, true. It's all learning!
I have a plan already... pity I'll have to wait so long to start it!
Your outdoor girls looking good though.

The Asian Haze is slowing her upwards growth somewhat and is bulking up and growing outwards. Very nice structure and is fairly well organized with the new bud structure she's putting on. Looking at the way her sister is bulking up her buds and their structure, she could make a LOT of canna. I don't think they will be rock hard buds, but outdoors, that may be a good thing. I think they will still be quite good and I think they will be fairly easy to trim. Still drinking a gallon a day and I'm filling the rez. I think my method of feeding my KNF inputs by making a slurry of my compost with the KNF inputs and applying a thin layer on top is working. I'm doing this to avoid washing water and nutes into the rez and upsetting that balance. The next day all the little helpers are all busy doing their work!
She's close to 8ft tall now, if not slightly over. I wish I had some of those little spreaders for the very top. She’s REALLY busy on top and I don't want her to just form one huge cola. If anyone has a link to what they use would be helpful.

These girls are amazing!

I would assume the big girl will have the same bud structure as her smaller sister. They look like they will be reasonably easy to trim and frosty.

Haze
edit................Anyone have a guess how long my big girl will run? I guess at least another month, but I think it will be around 6 weeks.

I'm up at the northern land garden. Not much change here.??? The plant's haven't put any growth on to speak of.
They mite have been a bit dry when I got here on the 2nd. Ive water twice now and will water again tomorrow.
But I don't think the low watering is all that's troubling the girls here at NL.
The total lack of Sun this grow season. Only about 11 good day's of sun in July and all the rain.. Ugh..
But not only that, but the smokey sky hazing up the Sun for day's n day's week's now...
I was driving up here a couple of weeks ago and the smoke was so thick when I was coming through Newaygo and Big Rapids area that it looks like fog through the forest and across the highway in spots. It was very thick.

Ludington State Park overlooking Lake Michigan at about 5 in the afternoon.
All the time hazy even after it rain's.
:jawdrop: holy crap, that's some major smoke haze GTG! .... not surprised, back-to back-to-back worst fire seasons in history on the West Coast, what a fucking shit-show already and it's not even the hot season yet! :nono:

Between that and the totally new gig at the North Forty, it's not hard to see why things didn't fire off as desired there,... you have a lot on the plate, hard to split you time and efforts in the right moments when scattered around the countryside! And still, you'll have good results- :d5:... and better insight to the soil and conditions, TARFU conditions aside!

...it's a tough call Bill, but if her behavior so far is any indication, I'd think closer to 8 weeks,...BUT we'll have to see how much of the semi-auto bloom speed shows yet, right? 6 weeks is not an unreasonable time frame either,... the mini-me looks about a month out yet. Have to sniffed her up yet?

Mini-me is picking up with the bud fattening and is getting greener. A month more for her fits along with my thinking. If she holds the current rate, it should be a good amount of canna. As good as she is looking, I think with the sun available and her health, the bud should be reasonably firm. I'm not expecting any kind of hardness with the amount of direct sun this spot has. Although I could be surprised.
Her smell has no real standout smell, just canna, at the moment.

I think you're correct with 8 weeks, That's taken from the way the other girl is going. The big girl is following her sister in the way she acts as flowering progresses. Both of these girls got to raging once they had roots under them and that continued until flowering for a few days. Once small buds are formed, I expect the big girl to pretty much stop her upwards growth. She's only grown about 8 or 9 inches this past week.
She has up her water consumption to well over a gallon a day.
Too bad the breeder hasn't stopped by. Pretty sure he could tell up what up.
I find their growth pattern interesting. I'm beginning to believe I don't have two phenos. I think it's just the difference from growing in a open pot VS growing in an Earthbox. Earthbox girls tend to grow bigger and go longer until chop.

Another topic, but sorta related: With the girls I planted to replace the poor girls that went outside, I had an air flow problem in the set-up in the tent in the new grow room. I had to put the humidifier outside the tent and next to a vent with 4 15 gal pots and one little 3gal in the center. I had to up the exhaust a bit much to draw in the vapor. I also had only one circ fan and it was too high up and pointing rearwards. While the did funnel the vapor right to the girl in the little 3 gal pot, it pushed out the vapor towards the back and out the exhaust before it could circulate well. The gal in the 3gal pot raged with the conditions. This went on for about 10 days from sprout before I realized the exact problem. I moved the 3gal pot into the little tent by herself and fixed the flow in the tent. I put the humidifier in the center of the tent, moved a fan to the rear and moved both fans down in the tent. This fixed the distribution problem, but the girls were stunted with the girls in the back fared better, but compared to the 3gal, it was still severely stunted. I now have one girl that is tiny..............really tiny.

All this rambling comes down to this. I think I'm changing my mind about direct planting in really large pots. I think even with the airflow fixed, they still would have been smaller. I think that I will plant in little open planters and transplant once roots are established well and transplant around 7-10 days into the big pot. I did notice a difference in my first grow in the 7 and one 15 gal pot.
What's everyone's opinion on the transplanting?
