If you're talking about Earth boxes, about the only
Safe way of using liquid nutrients is by mixing it in the compost and applying it on top. Make a wet slurry.
On the first half of the current grow, I didn't follow my own recommendations and added some liquid flower nutrients and got bit in the ass for it. Even though I applied it after a pretty good dry down, I must have applied too much and washed it down into the reservoir.
But the real
Source of the problem lies with essentially having too big of a plant for the Earth box, in my case it was juniors. If that hadn't occurred, there would be no
reason to add the liquid nutrients.
You and I both know this is not the first time you've had this problem. You had this problem way back when OldBoy was still here and alive!
When mine came up in this last run, about the only thing I had on hand that I thought would help was EM1. It sort of did help, it didn't let it progress further. It definitely diminished the production.
The goal is not to get in that situation from the first point! Maybe you need to evaluate what media you're using and how you reamended it. Or it may be just as simple as not putting big girls in juniors. I'm definitely not putting photos in juniors anymore and only relegated to relatively small autos.
Possibly if you find yourself in that situation again, maybe the enzymes that some hydro guys use to clean up the roots may help fix the problem. Hopefully I won't ever have that problem again, but I do have Rootwise enzymes to utilize now that
may work.
You know you can't get behind with organics. You'll never catch back up. If you're not already doing it, you might want to start adding your first top dressing at the time of potting up. That will give it time for that top dressing to breakdown and be available.
Just throwing some things out there Mark that maybe something might ring a bell with you!
