Lighting T5/CFL only thread (the manual)

While attaining my Degree in Theoretical Luminescent Dynamics, I learned that more watts and more lumen are good things when growing weed. And that a cfl bulb of low wattage could have a higher percentile lumen output than a much larger one.
Most T5 Growlight units are always Plug-n-Play, so no need to worry about ballasts, unless you plan on building your own unit, in which case I hope for safety's sake that you know something about electronics (Fire Hazard).
CFL Growlights always have ballasts built in.

Noods answers for a noobs questions sounds like a good match to me, thanks a lot:D

My knowledge of electronics is that they are very small berries and were first mentioned in the old testament. Nowadays they live inside a cable.
Trust me when I say I will NEVER do anything else than putting the plug into and outlet when it comes to electrics. At least my useless law degree lets me know that making something myself would be negligent arson and should be avoided...

I'm planning to build a grow box though and are looking for different options on lights etc.

Sounds cool. You're right, better safe than sorry! :thumbs:

You do know that this is Just in Jesting bulldoodoo, right? Happy Growing, my friend! :smokebuds:

One more question: If I have a fixture said to be for f.ex. 2x28W would it be ok to use 2x54W for that fixture?

I don't think you can, 59°N. I'm pretty sure they'll blow a fuse on you or cause some other unwanted problem. Please wait for a more educated answer or research that and make sure she won't overheat on you before trying it.

BAD idea...:no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no::no:

Thx all. Better safe than sorry so no experimentation from me then!

Not to disagree with everybody but the ballast will say what is ok. I just installed a ballast on my t5 8 bulb and there were all kinds of different options for power ratings and different configurations. Everything from low watt 2 bulb to 4x 54 watt. (Unit has two ballasts)But if you open it up and you can't understand after reading the info on the ballast, stay safe and leave it alone.
