Lighting T5/CFL only thread (the manual)

Im about to buy a 4 foot 6 lamp T5 from htg

i have a question about the spectrum , some say autoflowers like it mixed , since its a 6 bulb lamp i was wondering what would be a good combination of 6500k and 3000k for the plants ?

thanks for your helps guys

I'd suggest 3 red 3 blue giving you since mixed spectrum  also if your set on t5 iv heard nothing but good things about the quantum badboy t5 mate, there worth checking out :smokebuds:

Technical advice needed

I have read through this whole thread and have a few noob questions I haven't found the answer to.

1. When considering lights for cannabis plants will the most important things to consider be lumens per square feet and kelvin? Meaning will ANY light that puts out a certain amount of lumens in a certain spectrum (2700K for bloom, 6500K for growth) be sufficient?
2. What is the connection between watt and lumens? If I lower wattage will that only affect the lumens output or will it also affect the plants in other ways?
3. Do I need ballasts for T5's or CFL's?

Any advice is much appreciated, thanks in advance!:peace:

While attaining my Degree in Theoretical Luminescent Dynamics, I learned that more watts and more lumen are good things when growing weed. And that a cfl bulb of low wattage could have a higher percentile lumen output than a much larger one.
Most T5 Growlight units are always Plug-n-Play, so no need to worry about ballasts, unless you plan on building your own unit, in which case I hope for safety's sake that you know something about electronics (Fire Hazard).
CFL Growlights always have ballasts built in.
