Hi everyone!
Hi Chingro! Sorry to know about that 1 seed that did not germinate and about your disappointment with Sweet Seeds because of that.
Thanks guys for sharing your opinions and for your help. Besides what has been already said I decided to post this just to add a couple of info.
In a germination test (among many others, I'll just use this one as an example) I've had the following results:
24h - 16% germination
48h - 68% germination
72h - 79% germination
96h - 86% germination
120h - 90% germination
144h - 92% germination
168h - 94% germination
192h - 94% germination
216h - 95% germination
240h - 95% germination
At 240h (10 days) that's when I personally give up. The situation reported in this thread points to a 4 day give up.
This test was performed with paper towel method.
95% germination rate is what Sweet Seeds assumes in the catalog, page 3:

Not every seeds will sprout and I think this happens with every seedbank.

That being said, can a client ask for a replacement?
- Yes.
How should he ask for a replacement?
- The client asks the shop where the seeds were bought for a replacement, the shop should replace the seeds and then Sweet Seeds send the seeds to the shop. Unfortunatelly some shops don't do that (claiming the seeds they sell are not supposed to be germinated) and that's why we always advice clients to buy directly from the seedbank.
_____________
Sweet Seeds sells seeds in packs of 3, 5 and 10 units. A seed sold by a third party by unit, just one seed out of the package or in a previously opened package, is not a Sweet Seeds issue and any problem coming from there should be taken care of between the client and the shop that decided to sell a product without an official sealed package. I know most shops are realiable but maybe then others are not and there is no way that Sweet Seeds can control that, so would be crazy to assume any responsability in this kind of situations.
_______________
So, that being said, here are my 5 advices:
1 - Buy directly from the seedbank or from a shop where you know you'll get a replacement if something goes wrong;
2 - Don't buy seeds by unit. Or, if you decide to buy them by unit, it's at your own risk;
3 - Don't give up on a seed at day 4;
4 - Although some growers have good results germinating seeds in water due to their experience and care with parameters, best way to do it is with the paper towel method. Even directly in the soil is better than in the water;
5 - Although in this specific case there is no way the seedbank could replace that 1 seed (due to what I previously explained), the client should always contact first the shop where the seeds were bought and then, if the client thinks the seedbank should know about the way the shop behaves, he should contact the seedbank directly and not by opening a thread in a forum.

Hope this helps.
If you still have the seed don't give up on her yet. Good luck!
