RocBud Surprise strain testers

Transplant day part 1
  • So got tent spic n span and was all bleached and scrubbed so now cleaner than it’s ever been! Went ahead and added the extension so while it was apart I even carried roof piece outta my room while it was off and got all dust off top and wiped it with a sample rag with a mild bleach solution! Then took roof crossbars off and wiped clean and while I had light down I scrubbed dust off heatsinks and driver!

    After cleaning it was time to get to work! :coffee2:
    Had already dumped out 1 of my full size earthboxes I had repurposed into a worm bin but don’t need 2 bins so dumped em and scrubbed box clean! Then sprayed a light bleach solution inside to kill any germs etc and let it sit a bit then rinsed and let dry! :cooldance:
    When I filled box I started and for very bottom layer I used the last of the pumpkin soil from last run cuz I had issues that seemed like were from heavy K and had someone else that got same soil from same place tell me before I had issues he thought was heavy so it’s at very bottom for end of life when needed it and roots are deep enough to get to it!:thumbsup:
    Sprinkled some of the good dynomyco down and mixed it in and then added lil extra soil! Then when I dug my transplant holes I sprinkled some into hole and added some of the homegrown bokashi azokashi! The HG kashi is also good for transplanting so figured wouldn’t hurt! :headbang:

    Once they were settled added lil extra azokashi blend on top and lil of the foundation and kelp blend as well! Started em in seedling soil that had no nutes so they were hungry so now have food!
    955B1FA5-11A4-4805-8EC7-F1517EF1F788.jpeg

    Topped off with some extra oly mountain fish compost and then about a cup and a half of worm castings! Worms will be added soon and they love the oly compost! That and the kashi!:pop:
    FB870CA3-7ECB-4A97-9AC4-953249C70757.jpeg

    Did the rest of the foundation and kelp blend dose on top of the compost layer! Didn’t want it all in 1 layer or will kinda turn to mush on top of soil before it breaks down all the way! Why I left space in box to replenish fresh compost and castings throughout entire grow! The HG kashi regimen tells u every other feed on the bi-weekly schedule to replenish fresh castings (cuz they sell castings lmao) but compost will work same since I’ll have worms in boxes in a few days! :yay:

    Added that straw on top to help with retaining moisture for now til I get some panda film to cut out a cover I can slip on and off completely for when I topdress or whatever! Those shower cap covers do their job but make it a pain to get under em to topdress etc cuz still will be on the trunk so gotta keep holding it out the way with 1 hand and try to maneuver around and add everything with the other! More work then I wanna mess with and no clue how I could make it work at all with the 2 plants in same box! Panda film cover I’ll just hold it snug with binder clips around edge of box! :woohoo1:

    Also glad I checked cuz soil test of this blend of soil but not this particular batch said ph was 7.3! :yoinks:
    He said wasn’t this batch tho so wasn’t sure if ph so I used my handy dandy new toy and damn glad I did! Needed to know this for damn sure!
    7080E0E4-1808-4F38-B16B-82734E040231.jpeg

    Since the compost breaking down will also drop ph I went ahead and added 1.5tbsp of the powdered dolomite lime on top! Not sure how drastically or how fast it’ll raise it so here in 4-5 days I’ll check and see if we have any movement and how much and go from there! Do wanna keep it in low 6’s and can add more later in late veg/ early flower so she can have p/k more available when it’s needed in bloom! Sounds like a winning formula in my head so hoping it works out as well as I’m thinking! :eyebrows:

    Til next time........

    Worm wrangling
  • So I dumped out the juniors that contained my candy dawg that commuted suicide and purple Rolex so I went ahead and grabbed any worms that were on surface when I dumped box (so we’re on bottom of pot above tray) and there were some down in the spots on tray that u pack with soil to wick the water up so snagged em! :headbang:

    Split em between the boxes inside! Also made a frame and cut the screen out to make a castings screen sifter thingamajig but my staple gun wasn’t putting them into frame deep enough so gonna go get some small screws and washers tomorrow! Also need to grab a block of coco to replenish the worms bedding/food when I am done pulling castings out! :woohoo1:

    Apprarently my eyes were cooperating today cuz I managed to spot 3 diff worm cocoons when I finished adding the worms that I hijacked from those other boxes today! :yay:

    They had between like 7-20 day vacation depending on the box they were in but put em right back to work! Next time may go into the bin instead but guess it’ll depend on if they are needed! :thumbsup:

    X4=????who the hell knows
  • Time to hit it with an update already! Prob looking at around 4 more weeks I’m estimating but I’m hoping señor @RocBudInc stops in and blesses me with that next round of testers he offered! :d5:
    I won’t be wasting 18 days in rootmakers next time that’s for sure! I wind up with just as much crazy root growth both out the top of soil under EB covers and also down into the reservoir! Even put window screen over inside deck and they still grow down into the reservoir like crazy! Does same as direct planting so starting and then transplanting just slows the whole process down! Yo quiero muy rapido! :headbang:

    Rear girl more so but girlies def got a tad hungry! Going forward gonna start using my KNF fpj / ffj stuff prob once every other week til I get into flower! That plus the lil bit of food coming out the homegrown bokashi should keep girls from getting hungry! My main issue seems to be calcium and magnesium so gonna also add some powdered Ag gypsum and then lil epsom into my soil before I fill boxes to hopefully help keep from them winding up deficient! Waiting on my brown rice vinegar to arrive to add to my toasted eggshells to make some WCa (water soluble calcium) I can use as soil drench or as foliar spray! Hopefully can use my fermented knf stuff tho for some good ol organic plant food that’s available for plant as soon as it’s ready for it! :woohoo1:
    Here’s some shots of those roots out top of soil and down inside the reservoir!:cooldance:

    Based off the amount of frost already building up EVEN ON THE FAN LEAFS it’s a safe bet these babies gonna be caked once they finish! These pics from yesterday which was end of week 3 (yes that’s day 21) since flipping to flower! Didn’t expect to have these stretch so much that my tent needs a sunroof so guess it’s a good thing I put the extension onto gorilla tent before I started these! Sucks most tho that they are so tall I couldn’t get my new light in even if I wanted to so next time and I’ll just use it to finish the flowering on the auto testers! Finally gonna have both a proper spectrum and a ppfd output that’s not gonna leave the girls wanting for more photons! :yay:
    image.jpg

    Got the frame (which I assembled) + strips + driver yesterday but all necessary stuff to make it work (power cord, connectors, wagos, etc) don’t arrive til Friday from amazon so now gotta be patient and wait I guess! Not so bad since easily have 2+ weeks left on that autos in the 4x4! :thumbsup:
    :frog:

    X4=STILL????
  • So still don’t have the name of these testers! Guess til I hear other wise it’s an auto mix!!! :shrug:
    Getting closer just gotta wait on them to swell up and since they def needed some food my stoner brain finally started working and I pulled the covers off! Also didn’t put any water inside reservoir and I’ve been top watering instead so I can get them food! Whether it’s bottled organic or homemade knf nutes they really don’t work putting inside reservoir! Bottled stuff it falls outta suspension on organic stuff and the nutes would settle to bottom....ffj etc as it sits in water getting oxygen it becomes acidic and drops ph all the way to low 3’s so that’s also no bueno! Instead top watering lets me add food to roots and I just do it slowly so I can make sure I don’t water to the point it’s totally saturated and getting into reservoir! :thumbsup: :cooldance:

    Now onto the update pics! The way the buds seem to be looking lil different plus 1 getting some more drastic purple fading not sure if I got 2 diff phenos or if the rear girl is just hungrier! Either way both look like they are needing me to keep up the ffj feeds and give em maybe 3 weeks! Maybe less but not sure til scope comes out! :pop:
