So got tent spic n span and was all bleached and scrubbed so now cleaner than it’s ever been! Went ahead and added the extension so while it was apart I even carried roof piece outta my room while it was off and got all dust off top and wiped it with a sample rag with a mild bleach solution! Then took roof crossbars off and wiped clean and while I had light down I scrubbed dust off heatsinks and driver!
After cleaning it was time to get to work!
Had already dumped out 1 of my full size earthboxes I had repurposed into a worm bin but don’t need 2 bins so dumped em and scrubbed box clean! Then sprayed a light bleach solution inside to kill any germs etc and let it sit a bit then rinsed and let dry!
When I filled box I started and for very bottom layer I used the last of the pumpkin soil from last run cuz I had issues that seemed like were from heavy K and had someone else that got same soil from same place tell me before I had issues he thought was heavy so it’s at very bottom for end of life when needed it and roots are deep enough to get to it!
Sprinkled some of the good dynomyco down and mixed it in and then added lil extra soil! Then when I dug my transplant holes I sprinkled some into hole and added some of the homegrown bokashi azokashi! The HG kashi is also good for transplanting so figured wouldn’t hurt!
Once they were settled added lil extra azokashi blend on top and lil of the foundation and kelp blend as well! Started em in seedling soil that had no nutes so they were hungry so now have food!
Topped off with some extra oly mountain fish compost and then about a cup and a half of worm castings! Worms will be added soon and they love the oly compost! That and the kashi!
Did the rest of the foundation and kelp blend dose on top of the compost layer! Didn’t want it all in 1 layer or will kinda turn to mush on top of soil before it breaks down all the way! Why I left space in box to replenish fresh compost and castings throughout entire grow! The HG kashi regimen tells u every other feed on the bi-weekly schedule to replenish fresh castings (cuz they sell castings lmao) but compost will work same since I’ll have worms in boxes in a few days!
Added that straw on top to help with retaining moisture for now til I get some panda film to cut out a cover I can slip on and off completely for when I topdress or whatever! Those shower cap covers do their job but make it a pain to get under em to topdress etc cuz still will be on the trunk so gotta keep holding it out the way with 1 hand and try to maneuver around and add everything with the other! More work then I wanna mess with and no clue how I could make it work at all with the 2 plants in same box! Panda film cover I’ll just hold it snug with binder clips around edge of box!
Also glad I checked cuz soil test of this blend of soil but not this particular batch said ph was 7.3!
He said wasn’t this batch tho so wasn’t sure if ph so I used my handy dandy new toy and damn glad I did! Needed to know this for damn sure!
Since the compost breaking down will also drop ph I went ahead and added 1.5tbsp of the powdered dolomite lime on top! Not sure how drastically or how fast it’ll raise it so here in 4-5 days I’ll check and see if we have any movement and how much and go from there! Do wanna keep it in low 6’s and can add more later in late veg/ early flower so she can have p/k more available when it’s needed in bloom! Sounds like a winning formula in my head so hoping it works out as well as I’m thinking!
Til next time........
