I see many of the autos say things like 5% rudarallis. I guess the people who make strains of autos must back breed a number of times with the offspring of the first ruderalis cross with a photo or maybe 2 photo strains to keep the vigor up until they get the ruderalis level that they desire.

The Joint Dr. Autos are all from crosses made with photos and a strain of Mexican Ruderalis.LBH told me he had found a tropical strain of Ruderalis he uses in his cross. They are sold in the E-Store here. Many of stitches autos are from the same strain as the Joint Drs. Mex. Ruderalis. The "Cannabis Castle" strains which was the 1st famous Seed Bank in Holland got their Ruderalis from Russian Road Sides. This was the 1st autos ever back in the late 80s.

The Original Joint Dr.s strains in my opinion are not that potent, the Low Ryder, Low Ryder #2 & Easy Ryder. The other later releases are far more potent.
Stitches crosses sold by Short Stuff Seeds are the best I've tried for fast maturing Autos 8-10 weeks.MI5 & Onyx are my favorites. They have 15% + THC levels.

What you say makes a lot of sence. I have friends in the Kingston area. I will see if they can find me some wild ditch weed and send me some seeds for me to try as a ruderalis test and I will cross it and see if it autos. I really like the strength and stone of Humbolt photo and don't think their is a Humbolt auto on the market. It might be a good one to try. Maybe White Rhino as a second choice.

He used a ruderalis from a place with a short season (I think I heard him mention hungary), but not as short a season as the mini arctic ruderalis. He tested the local ruderalis under 24 hr light and it autoflowered, but at a larger size than lowryder.
This is why he thinks it is better suited for these larger autos he is breeding, and why he thinks it is so superior to lowryder derived strains.

Nelson, grow a seed of that out in your veg cabinet. If it flowers under 24 hours of light in a timely manner (2-7 weeks or so), then for our purposes we would call it ruderalis. You would be able to cross it to photoperiod strains, then inbreed to find the auto trait. In fact, if you started a line with that local strain it would probably bring a lot of pest resistance and immune system benefits to whatever photo you cross it to.

Further observations - amber trichomes. I always heard sativas don't amber, and also that rudy sometimes doesn't amber so this is a bit surprising. Still a very heady buzz, even with 30% amber and the added CBN.
Also I noticed about 5% - 10% of the trichomes are duds. the duds are spear shaped with no globular head. This means that no cannabinoid was produced in that spot, but could have been.
I think that this is the physical basis of potency in a plant. To maximize potency, 3 things must be selected for - no dud trichomes, large globular heads, and more trichomes per square inch.

The theory is maybe right or wrong but I am going to add my observation as well. I still grow Trainwreck. It is an old type that has the wierdist smell. Kind of like stove oil mixed with parsnips. It is truly one of the ugliest plants in the world. Got a stalk that will barely support the buds and needs a stick and has to be tied up like a tomato plant or it will fall over. Got the worst looking bud, trichomes look like shit and hardly any crystal on them. Got all the bag appeal of what I pick up after I walk my dog and have to pick up after. It is two hit shit that knocks you on your ass. Just like AK47, Humbolt, White Rhino and OG kush. Go figure.

How can the pot be so good from something that smells like that. I wonder if it might be a candadate to breed to some Kingston Ont. ditch weed Ruderalis? At least no one else would be doing it. Could it be fate that I will do it.

Yep that's Trainwreck! I remember the first time I ran it. I walked into my grow room one day and exclaimed,"What the hell! Looks like a train wreck in here" as all the plants were flopped over like dead bodies. Great medicinal & recreational effects but also lots of work tying up & supporting all those branches!!!

get it done nelson autowreck has a good name to it between me and you we would half half a seed bank

Both Autowreck and Autotrain are great names. I will get on my son to send me some Kingston Ditch Weed and I will grow it out to see in the seeds auto by themselves first of all in my inside bubbly tank.

I grew one this summer and it maxed out height wise at just about four feet. The buds were thinish but glisting with resin. I was just waiting for a little cloudiness in the trichromes when one of my son's lowlife "friends" hopped the fence at night and it was gone so i never got to smoke it but it was a beautiful plant unique in apperance I'm surprised someone was dissapointed with their results but I'm gonna definitly gonna give it a try next outdoor season in a different locale

Are you talking about a photo Trainwreck?

So im guessing the 10/10 for potency for the SCH wasent that truthful? people are saying 8-10% and lack of crystals?
