New Grower Suki's Perpetual Grow-a-thon

What are you planning to do with the liquid?
I gave a few ounces to everyone in their water yesterday (four-ish, once the foam settled I poured off till it was an even 16oz left) for the hormones and the light nutritional boost. The ferment will act as a probiotic and help to reduce/prevent stress to the plants, as well as feed the microbes in the soil. I think typically the leaves are generally just chopped and fermented with sugar (I've got a jar like that as well) then strained and diluted, but I didn't not anticipate the volume of juice I got from the leaves. I was only planning on watering it in since I already have a FPJ going, but this juicer is apparently extremely efficient as the pulp was nearly completely dry lol. Just like for humans, juicing makes the nutrients and hormones and such more readily available than just composting them or whatever. I'm actually really interested to see the difference in the two ferments, as the juicing step is insanely quick and easy and meant I didn't have to chop leaves and try to mix/evenly coat them with sugar, and should make it so straining is a minimal effort. Straining the LABS was an absolute pain and was messy and stinky and took forever. @Fermented_Fruitz or @WildBill could probably explain all this better than me lol, I'm still learning about all this organic/knf stuff.

I think I look at your plants more than my own. I am usaully at least 10 or 12 hour before I see them. About 14 hours right now. It is crazy when you see how much they grow in that time. My favorite is when they are maybe 10 days old and the stems are getting thicker. Every time I seem them they are twice as thick.
That's why I like to try to be sure to document every day! Their growth can be very dramatic over a relatively short period of time (especially like you said around that 2 week mark, or during stretch) and its just really fascinating to watch.

Basically fermenting it makes it stable so lasts much longer! OH IF NOBODY TOLD U SUKI U NEED TO STORE IT WITH SAME PIECE OF PAPER TOWEL AS A LID OR CUT A PIECE OFF AN OLD WHITE TSHIRT AND USE THE BAND TO HOLD SECURELY IN PLACE CUZ IT NEEDS TO BREATHE! Also fermenting healthy leaves means they are chock full of the proper ratio of nutrients to feed back to the plant plus amino acids! U can also ferment your old root balls for a homemade fulvic acid type of product! :d5:

Also what exactly was a pain to strain in the LABS?? Only thing u gotta separate is the curd at the end and u can basically scoop that out with a spoon! Then run rest of liquid thru cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to catch last of chunks before u mix in the brown sugar! ;)

Oh no I mean the initial wash lol. I didn't have rice so I used oatmeal and let it soak overnight so it was just super glupey and gross lmao. That's on me for sure.

I’ve never heard of oatmeal being used! Seems suspect but I’m far too stoned and lazy to google search it! ;) :crying:

Disposable paint strainer funnels work great for separating the solids and liquids for ferments etc! Only like $3 for a 3pk and they use 400 micron mesh in them if I remember correctly! :d5:

From my googling, any grain can be used in the same proportion as they all put off goodies for the microbes. Seems to be working, I've got curds started in the jars that I was able to add milk to night before last. The other ones I just got milk in today cause I was hyperfocused on other stuff yesterday and forgot lmao.

I had some nylon stockings in my first aid kit so I jacked those lmao. I tried using the funnel strainer thing I've got but it clogged basically instantly. Paper towels also did not work at all lmao. Had to get creative. We use a French press, so no coffee filters here either lol.

That’s from using oatmeal! Def don’t do that again! Seems like it would be too thick and goopy and next to impossible to strain all the solids out! Prob should strain thru coffee filter or something so may wanna add to grocery list! That or them paint strainer funnels! They just make it super simple to get them pieces out! Just insert into a large kitchen funnel and slowly pour thru it! That way u can use free hand to stir the stuff in the funnel so it doesn’t plug shut! Once it starts to just dump the contents into sink and reinsert funnel! :pass:
