I have recently stopped smoking and switched to using a vape, before i always used to smoke up all my sugar leaf trim mixed with tobacco which masked the taste, but after trying the trim in the vape and realising how bad the real taste of it can be i decided to extract all the kief from the trim to mix in with my bud in the vape bowls.
This is the best method i found to get the most kief out of a small amount of trim without using any special equipment only a standard 4 piece grinder, a coin with smooth edges, shaver brush and the freezer. It by no means is the strongest kief you will get but will get you nicely baked and with the small particles of plant material that get through the grinder screen it bulks up the amount you get a bit more without affecting the taste much when mixed with bud.
There are most probably more effective ways to use larger amounts of trim or to process them into kief, but for a small amount of material it seems to work ok and for me anyway gives satisfactory results.
Everything needed (trim, grinder, coin, brush)
Place the coin in the section of the grinder that collects the buds and then close it up and load the top section as much trim as possible
Grind up all the trim till and then open up the top section and use the brush to get any left over plant material and kief cleaned through to the next section, if the bud collecting section is full carry on to the next step if not repeat again till it is.
When you have enough ground up material in the bud collecter put the grinder in the freezer for 15-20 mins, take it out from the freezer and give it a good shaking so the coin knocks off as many of the frozen trichs from the plant material as possible, the below pic shows the ground up material that is finshed with after freezing and shaking compared to above after being freshly grinded.
Take out the coin and then use the brush to clean all the plant material from the edges onto the screen, then again with the brush softly stir the material a bit to knock off any last trichs into the screen without crushing and forcing leaf through it, and then dump of the rest of the leaf i put it in with my AVB. Lastly take the rough end of the brush and give a light scrubbing to the top of the screen to push the last of the kief through and clean up the grinder (i do this every grind with my buds also and seems to increase the amount of kief from them also, as well keep my grinder nice and clean).
Thats it done, cheap and dirty method i know but has kept me nicely medicated over the past week or so vaped with small inmature buds while i wait for the good stuff to cure. This is the return from the trim used in the third pic loaded in the grinder (50mm grinder for size reference), you can also use the brush to clean the bottom of the screen as you can see alot builds up there also, just try not to sneeze while doing it lol.
