Hello all.

I know what some of you might be thinking..."This cat hasn't even pulled off ONE successful grow yet, but he wants to breed? bahahahaha"

Yes I have been having some problems but I am learning and getting better everyday and know for a fact that I will be among the better growers before long. Plus, this is a future plan that I have been thinking about. I have recently been reading up a ton on anything breeding.

I want to create my own Auto strains when I get better at growing after another grow or two. I also want to start projects on making some favorite photo strains into autos. I will be starting experiments with my very next grow, but that is mostly for having seeds to grow out instead of buying, and may or may not cross two different strains, so it might just be the same strain that I grow as it will probably be just one type to keep it simple. Anywho...

I have an understanding of crossing and back-crossing and F1 etc and picking different phenotypes of whatever you want to move forward with and keep in your new strain and a decent understanding of how all the %s work with carried traits and going back and forth to end up with what you want.

I am absolutely fascinated by it and I definitely want to get into breeding and developing new tailored strains. I do have a couple questions though to start with that I don't quite understand fully:

>>>Beyond the picking of mates for certain traits and phenotypes, does it matter which one is male and which is female?

For instance, if I had, theoretically, a male and female each of two different stains, for the purpose of explaining-(M1 and F1, then M2 and F2). I would be able to do both combinations available for crossing, M1 to F2 and F1 to M2. Would all of those seeds be the same or does it change depending on what the female or male is?

Hopefully you can follow this. I extend a huge stinky pile of dank thanks in advance to anyone that helps or adds in.

Stick around and anyone who is still around with us in the months and years to come and into my breeding projects will surely be rewarded for helping me out. Trust me.

Although the Male and female both add 50/50 genetic material, the female makes the seed and so some extra genes are passed from her through the cytoplasm. Better therefore to use a Female photoperiod. If nothing else the female can be properly tested(smoked) so easier to pick best photoperiod mother if plan is to breed new auto like photo period parent.

Cool. Thanks a lot hoots. I'm sure I will have more questions at some point.

thats not 100,let me say that if iwanted to breed a white widow from serious,or mr.nice iwas told to use males in the breading as this is the best way to interduce the white widow genes acording to the breaders, and i think they know there plant.lol but i feel ur right for the most part.on a side not on the subject of malesin breeding.ive been thinking of way to documents traits(mind you i dont read breeding books, not muchbooks at all(cover to cover)) in males for the most part, even though this could/should apply to females
1.hash. the return on male should be scaled/recorded on weight, potency, and the nature of the tricome andits 'high' large heads, short stock, get this kinda high,ect..
still wit me?

2 .the loss of weight during the drying process, whole plant without the roots.should let you know the shrink fator in weight for the off spring.
1 and 2 should be use in tandom i.e.,m1 loss 50% weight.which netted 10% hash
vs. dry weight.
i also think oils/wax's should be acounted for as i belive they hold bearing over total yeild in the ofspring,so maby qwiso or slow wash iso is best idk just wut ithink about
wut do you guys think? sorry for thehijack if want to delete it let me no so i can start a thread wit this qoute.thanks guys for letting my share my ideas

I have no clue about most of your post except the first bit. Thanks but it seems irrelevant.

Ididn' understand any of it. Growing this stuff isn't rocket science,do you imagin if they had a forum on rockets.Light up a water pipe and pass the hose bros.

You can do it Squid, just hurry up because i want you to develop an auto sour diesel that yields about 4 ounces per plant before I kick the bucket.

I expect that I will definitely have some strains going this time next year, but maybe not quite finished for sale yet. But testing? hehehe. Yessssssssss.

That ASD sounds badass. I thought there was an auto sour diesel. Guess not. And damn did you plan on taking the long nap soon? That sucks.

I would post some of my ideas for strains but I don't want my ideas stolen. haha. And I am sure my ideas will pop up from someone else by the time I can even get started maybe. It is what it is. It seems there is always more room for new strains so it's all good.

The one that spurred the idea was a photo I wanted to make 100% auto. But then I found the genetics to it and I can get both of the parents in auto now. Sure it might not be exactly the same but it will be close enough for me.

Other than that I just want to make my own personal lineup. Kinda like the Wiz breeding his own entire dragon lineup, which is super cool to me. They're all dragons but different kinds and effects. Too cool. Just thought I would add this.

I was just kidding about kicking the bucket ,I hope to make it to 85. I know i read about sour diesel in a list of medical mj,but i didnt know there was a auto.I will do a little more research just to make sure. It's listed at 25% thc so It caught my attention.
