Hey guys! First time grower, and really my first time on here. I mostly before just lurked and soaked up knowledge. I’ve been using ffof for my first grow but I feel like it’s just not for me. Locally the only thing I can really find is ffof or another nursery has some black gold soil. Personally I feel like I want to be hands on more. I just love being in the garden. Does anybody have opinions on black gold? My other option was going bio bizz light mix off amazon.

Hi bro and welcome to AFN.
I'm currently using biobizz lightmix for my first Auto grow and so far my plants seem to love it.

Hi, and welcome to AFN. Friendly and helpful place this.

Re. your question, I suspect that Black Gold may work fine, but do not know for sure how rich the initial nute charge is. As long as it is not too much for the babies, it should work fine, especially if assisted as necessary with something like MegaCrop later in the grow.

If you are inclined toward soil, but not coco, you could also try ProMix HP myco. It also works a treat, and is definitely safe for the babies. With ProMix, you will need to start nutes about one week into growth. Others on here use ProMix to great success, and I did not too badly with it in my first grow last summer. Technically, ProMix is a soilless medium, but it is more forgiving than coco.

Bottom line is that virtually any medium will work great if it is not too rich initially, and if you properly supply and manage nutes once they have to be added. If I were you, I would try ProMix, and use MegaCrop after initial growth is underway. I would have used it in my indoor grow, but none was available when I set the grow up, so I went with Coco.

From my experiance you will want the black gold for a photo plant as it's more nutrient rich and the bio buzz light for an auto. But both are great products and can be used to grow any kind of high quality cannabis.

Good to know!! I appreciate it. I just put my plants in straight ocean forest and didn’t know if I really had a problem or not with them growing in it but I definitely know I want more control and don’t like not being able to be hands on more. Seems like it’s down to light mix and pro mix. Thanks for the info and knowledge. Much appreciated!

I use mega crop so i will do some more research into promix. I feel like eventually I will work myself into coco but I still have a lot of learning to do. I’m definitely into more hands on stuff now after using ocean forest and just sitting around not being able to add anything in fear of burning. I think I can actually get my hands on promix without getting huge shipping charges either so that’s definitely a option. Thanks for the reply and the knowledge! Much appreciated!

I'm almost at harvest time in my first grow. I used light mix of biobizz. I already have another bag of it for my next grow. It's a good option.
Here https://www.autoflower.org/threads/tangs-easy-auto-feeding-schedule.47290/ you can find a good feeding chart. Happy growing.

Local availability is one reason I mentioned ProMix. It is commonly available more or less everywhere in North America, don't know about elsewhere. At any rate, it is a good product, and others here have great success with it. If you search around here you will find a few experts, I just can't recall off the top of my pointy who they are.

Good luck with the grow. :pighug:
