The ones I bought have the rubber seal built-in the top and it's kind of molded to fit the bottom part so you can't flip it or move it. That should also mean that it's airtight right but apparently no. :no: We will see when the new ones arrive
Uh yeah all the mason lids have the rubber gasket seal molded into the lid. Those seals do wear out, that's why the lids are cheap and replaceable seals in zoos wear out too :/

When using canning jars for storage, you want to only gently tighten the lids. If you crank them down real tight, the seal deforms to make a tight seal. It will only do that one time, that's why your replace them every time you can something. Apply moderate pressure to the seal and it shoudn't leak anything and will be reusable. They also now have plastic lids to be reusable on jars use for storage.
