Hi everyone,

This seems like a super friendly place. Hope someone can give me a bit of advice.

After a moderately successful outdoor grow, I'm moving my amateur op indoors for the winter. Here's my kit list:

Mars Hydro 60x60x140cm tent
Mars Hydro 600w LED
S&P Mixvent 160 exhaust w. REB speed control
Mountain Air Filter
Static fan
Oscillating fan
Biobizz Lite Mix soil
Biobizz Calmag and full Biobizz nutrient range
RO water supply
Airpots 3 x 9l, 3x 20l
FastBuds Green Crack Auto seeds x 3

So here's the question. Given the limited space I have in the tent and GC's reputation for bushy growth, which of my airpots or rather combination of airpots would you advise?

I feel 1 x 20l is the obvious, potentially highest yielding and most easily managed choice. But I'd like to experiment with a number of different HST/LST training and cropping techniques. So I'm thinking about whether I can get away with 1 x 20l and 2 x 9l or 3 x 9l or 2 x 20l or some other combination...without overcrowding the growth area.

(2 x 20l + 1 x 9l is maximum floor space I have)

I'm not too concerned with mega yields whilst I'm learning. And I won't be heartbroken if i try a 3 pot combo but have to sacrifice one plant part way through...although obviously I'd prefer to avoid that.

Anyone have any pointers?

Thank you so much.

Robin

Sadly, your tent is only good for one plant unless the strains are small. You could also have challenges with height by the time you fit everything in there and leave space between the canopy and light.

if I was you, I would stick with one plant in the 20l pot. I would also top and train to control height, and I would set both fan and filter up outside the tent so they do not use tent height. Just my two cents of course.

Good luck with the grow, and don’t hesitate to ask for help. :pighug:

I had this dilemma not lo long ago, my tent is 2/4/6ft and I was looking at 5 gallon pots, I was quickly advised to go for max 3 gallon ones for my tent size, I did go for 3 gallon ones but actually wouldn't have minded half the size... It's going well though so I can try smaller the next time.
Number of plants... Well all size dependent etc. But I was advised anywhere from max two and up to the six I have ( in 3 gallon pots, I have two more in smaller pots) and it's definitely to many, it's only week 4 since seed went into water and I can already see that myself now... even as a beginner...
In your tent size, I would say max 2 plants and grow them in smaller than 3 gallon pots.

Personally, I've never grown in anything larger than 1 gal....with 3 ltr being my usual. They each get 1 sq ft of space in a 2x3 tent and fight for available light. Makes for a bush but nothing like a sea of flowers. With my runs consisting of several different breeders/genetics, it's interesting to see which is the hungriest.

I've gone through 2 grows in a 30"x18"x36" tent, first with (1)2 gallon fabric pot and then (2)1 gallon fabric pots, both using soil. With a QB-style light tight to the top of the tent, I safely have 24" of grow height. The (1) gallon plants topped out at around 15" tall with LST and/or topping. I'm averaging about an ounce per gallon of soil.

Next run, I'm trying (2)2 gallon Rain Science bags since I have the headroom and the watering schedule for the 1 gallon pots is crazy! The roots ate up all available space early on so the plant was constantly thirsty, even with passive Blumats.

Must get to be quite the bush in there! The next grow after the current one, I may be filling the 2x4 with a bunch of different strains in small pots fed by one Autovalve just for the entertainment. As you say, watching them fight it out is bound to be interesting. And there are always the snippers to keep things sort of under control. Not being fussed about yield leaves all kinds of fun options.

Happy growing mate.
