Grow Room small tent lighting question?

If your exhaust outtake is located at the top of the tent then you could possibly get away with your current fan blowing through or pulling from a filter mounted in th top, this is so long as you have enough passive intake as well, as in you should have at least double the area for passive intake as you have for your exhaust.

@seedlingstarter can grow any auto or photoperiod for that matter in his tent, sure short strains would help but are not necessary, main factor for keeping things small is limiting their root space thus limiting how big they can grow, now if one doesn't want to do that then as you mentioned lst, hst, cropping and the likes are your friend

Thanks mr sparkle I'm only looking to grow about 2 plants at a time. I've had many harvest out of PC cases none too great but were decent enough. I grow right now for fun until I can get good enough to keep it rolling. So I still buy herbs pretty regularly, though I do enjoy reaping the herbs I sowed. So compared to my PC that only had 17 inches height, once putting my cfl lighting in it came to maybe 14inches which i had to LST my plant to keep them from touching the light so I know I'll be fine with the 3 ft of height.

Curious what strain are you thinking?

At the moment I have some purple kush auto, blueberry auto, cream mandarine and a few feminised photo beans from freebies. Thing about some of the freebies is i don't know the strains depending on who i ordered from they just say freebies. So thats not good lol. I know the one is a raspberry cough, and 2 gorilla glues.

i had a 50x50x100 tent with vipar 300, and my 4 plants did just fine w/o any scrubbers.. just a 3w usb fan blowing the "hot" air thru the extraction outlet at the top of the tent..

The type of fans that go in tents are they usually loud or silent?

It really depends and varies, you get what you pay for. It's possible to purchase "silent" stealthy extraction systems, which consist of a long silver tube, that has a fan inside, as well as the carbon filter, and one end of this bendy flexible tube, can lead out of the top extraction port of the tent. This type of extraction system which I've seen on eBay UK costs around £100.

Or you can purchase the standard carbon filter and fan, with a fan speed controller to reduce the sound of fans / noise.

There are various options available really.. I've had to consider all of these aspects of my set-up due to reasons of stealth and wishing to keep as low key as possible, with particular emphasis on keeping noise, and odours to a minimum, which means I've ultimately had to invest in various bits and pieces to achieve this.

So I guess, overall in regards to keeping things stealthy and low key, i.e. low odour, low noise, investing in some quality equipment is always a wise move, and definitely helps me sleep a little easier at night, just knowing my lights are on, the fans are running, the plants are looking healthy and on track..and there is no noise or smell, which could give the game away..
:naughtystep:

Having said all that, it's also very possible to achieve a nice little set up on a budget, if you're willing to do some DIY, it's not so difficult to build your own carbon filter and fans.

I recently bought a couple of computer type fans, off eBay which have a speed controller and are USB powered, they are very low noise, and can be hung inside the tent, more quieter than the usual 4" type clip on USB Fans that are often hung inside tents.

I also bought a long piece of carbon sheeting, which can be cut into smaller squares, and placed in-between the vents in each socket of the tent. This will further help to keep odour at lower levels. And certainly seems to be working for me at the moment as I have used this technique for both my tents, and it's enabled me to get away with having to attach my carbon filter and fans inside the tent.

I think this would hugely depend on how smelly the strain is you are growing, mine are currently all small indica plants, so they are usually less smelly anyway

What is the smallest tent you can buy? I have some panda film and 1”pvc pipe but want something simple.

I’m thinking like 10”x10”x 14”..

Look into quantum boards, will give you another couple inches, might help with Temps as well...am running a vivosun 4" extractor and filter, it's not silent, but not more than a loud pc fan. My tent is right next to my bed, and doesn't bother me at all. Honestly I hear the circulating fan over the extraction fan.
