I grow in small 2-3 ltr pots for the same reason. I like to cram 6-7 flowing plants in my 2x3 tent...gets crowded but the fun of watching several strains flower is a kick. I never grow for yeild, only for healthy plants and variety. One to wake me and get my old ass going and motivate, one to coast through the day and one to knock my old ass out!
I too like smaller plants but it seems most are taller strains now so I just top everything. Then there's always a damn mutant that bullies for more space but I love it.

What do you grow to get your old ass going / motivation?

Mephisto Srawberry Nuggets is very small but such high quality. I've got a Sour Crack finishing up now too, can't speak to quality yet though it looks and smells great. But it's also a very small compact plant.

Actually, Most I grow can be a wake up/motivate type "IF" harvested at the correct time. When I need to fill any slots in my med makeup, I'll select one of the known strains (mostly hybrids) and harvest some nuggs when trics are a mix of clear/cloudy, all cloudy, 10% amber, or more amber.
The most recent I've harvested a few nuggs for "up" was rocbudinc magic cookies.
Being an old stoner and now using cannabis for various old ass maladies, I've learned the most benefit initially is only 1 or 2 tokes early...let that permeate ya body and a few hours later...another toke or two. I have found a initial light burn allows ya to enjoy the buzz more without even a moderate stone. That comes at bedtime when I get into some more amber nuggs.

Can anyone recommend interesting (very tasty or very smelly) small strains that would work well in small pot and fit between the gaps left by a few larger strains?

My favorite small/fast auto so far is Night Owl's Blue Microverse. Stays small, grows pretty quickly, easygoing, and it smells & tastes great -- like a dark, rich blueberry port. It's probably going to be hard to find right now, but may be restocked in a couple months.

I just finished a fastbuds purple lemonade, in 2 ltr, topped and stayed 12-14" out of pot. My lady said it was the most fragrant (rotten berries) and most striking in looks (purple/lavender w/ green leaves). Although I've grown PL several times, this one finished the earliest ever at 20-30% amber at 62 days. Like previous grows, I expect some fire.

I grew this freebie from mephisto. It was the double grape crossed with sour stomper. Grew it in 5 gallon pot and was still tiny. Drying now and it looks like it will be a great strain for pressing, super sticky and trichs up the wazoo lol.

This is after a quick trim before drying. Not much stem below where you can't see in picture. This was the whole plant!

short stuff seeds. Very solid genetics and , I specifically like purple gorilla auto, I crossed it with their #1 variety to try and stabilize the #1 pheno. F1 growing out now and they have been very pleasant and uniform almost two weeks in.

Short Stuff IS top genetics and trustworthy. When I started growing 15 years ago, Short Stuff, Flash, & Joint Doctor were leaders in the auto world opened up a new world to some of us. My very first purple plant was Joint Doctor Purple Jem.... A few orders ago, I rec'd 2 short stuff auto purple gorilla seeds as freebies. ....both popped and grew with identical structure...both yeilds were over 1.5 oz in 2 ltr pots. Feedback from those gifted ...A+ taste and potency.

Thanks for the tip. I've never heard of Short Stuff before. I just checked out their site and they look to have some great strains. I'm particularly interested in purple gorilla, tha shiznit, or the auto purple amnesia.

*UPDATE thanks for all tips everyone. Since first posting this I bought a 3 pack of dinafem cookies auto, and 3 buddha purple kush auto to add some colour and just for fun to grow in a smaller pot in corners of my tent. I don't need any more but i'll definitely check out short stuff and mephisto's next drop (whenever that might be) for future small grow ideas.
