Mephisto Genetics Slow's Sour Stompers, Drip stakes, Airdomes, and Mega Crop.

Alrighty then, I got done transplanting my plants earlier. I used the Coco/Hydroton mix. 2 cups of Coco to 1 cup Hydroton. I put an Airdome in each and cranked them up immediately. I also ran my drip stakes and lines, however I am getting a new pump tomorrow and my timer is garbage now...so I have a new one on the way. I start with 4 waterings for 30 sec each per day. If they do not run off, I add more time...45 sec each. I put 2 drip stakes per pot instead of just one. I will not have to water until tomorrow afternoon and I will just plug the pump in by hand until my timer gets here We'd.

I am super excited to see how things go. I have a feeling that they are going to blow up Quickly. They were in Solo cups, and starting to dry out faster. One thing about MC is you want to avoid letting your plants dry out. I have used many nutes with Coco for many many years. Once in a while even seasoned growers get busy and plants dry out. For some reason MC seems to burn the leaves very easily if your plants dry out even slightly too much. My larger seedling dried out just a little and the bottom leaves got a little Crispy. It will be fine, but for those using MC or reading...dont let your medium dry out with MC. I have nothing bad to say about MC, it is growers error for letting things get dry. That is the Downside of MC, which again...is my own fault. I have been on the same bag forever. Just had to order an new thing of Sweet Candy. But these nutes are cheaper than anything else around. I am thinking about trying to make a diluted Gal of MC, so I don't have to mix powders daily. I am also going to try Gold Label and do a side by side. I am all about trying new things and comparing end product. I will add pics in morning, after I add my pump. Peace

Not much to add since I m in soil, but I have to agree with you about MC. Since I started measuring with TDS meter, I stopped measuring with scale and started using premeasured spoons (1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 tsp. per gallon). Now making the nutes takes 2 minutes, and TDS /PH values are always within 5% of the last one. Easy peasy. Life is getting more simple, and I am getting great meds. What could be better?

Ok, I just had my first hiccup with the new set up. I will have to keep a close eye on it. I added 9 Gal of water yesterday to my res. 3 gal to try it out and then I made 6 more gal. I am not sure why, but when I went into the tent this morning 3/4 of my plants were flooded. The pressure from the extra water must have somehow made a syphoning effect. I will just keep the level lower from now on, until I find out what happened. I have a feeling it was because of the water level and being the very first time I used it that it syphoned somehow. One good thing is that the Airdomes we're on, so they got plenty of Oxygen. They have been on for 2 days and I have noticed a jump in growth. Using Hydroton has definitely increased the drainage vs straight or with Perlite. Also, I got a new timer. It's pretty sweet, but took a few to figure out. Since I flooded them, I will leave them unplugged for the day from the pump. But the timer is digital and is set to go ON for 15 sec each hour as of now. I will adjust the flood time as needed. 15 sec might be too much each hour until they start growing faster. We shall see. I will wait a few hours and go back to check to make sure they are not flooded, then add pics to this thread. I got a new phone, dropped mine in the pool! Peace slowandeasy

wow. Dropped your phone in the pool and had a flood. I'm no psychiatrist, but were you dreaming about water much lately?:biggrin::biggrin:
Had my phone in my sweatshirt pocket while closing my pool for winter. Splash! To the bottom. And luckily the flood of my plants was not enough to actually flood my tent. My trays hold a decent amount. But I will be a hawk now for a bit . I got a new pump, it was the first time I used it. The plants are fine, I wasted a Gal of nute water, no problem.

End of week 2. Domes have been on for almost 3 days now. Growth has increased since then. You can see the minor imperfections from drying out once before I transplanted. No big deal, plants dont like to get dry with MC, but that's ok...they will be fine. The little ones are Sour Crinkle and on Days 1 and 4. They will be heading to another tent soon, no hurry.
